Windows 10: Cannot verify Microsoft account on laptop

I can sign into my Microsoft account just fine on the Microsoft website, but when I try to verify my account in my laptop's settings, I am stuck in an infinite loop. It firsts asks me for my PIN, and whether I input the correct PIN or select "Use a method not listed here", I'm led to the same place: This is definitely the correct email, but I'm unable to move forward unless I choose "get a new one" or "Create one!" which just sends me here: So my account exists and does not exists simultaneously? Not sure how to proceed from here...

Laptop not listed in Devices in Microsoft Account

1. Sign in to the main computer with your Microsoft Account.

2. Press Windows key + I to open settings

3. Click on "accounts" and select "your account" on the left pane.

4. Check if the option to verify your identity is available.

5. If so, click "verify" and follow the on-screen instructions.

6. Once that is done, begin the setup steps given in the article
and check again.

Laptop asking to verify the account

I suggest you to try the below methods and check if this helps.

Method 1:

I would suggest you to run the Microsoft Account Troubleshooter and check if it helps.

Method 2:

I would suggest you to switch your Microsoft account to a Local account first and then switch back to Microsoft account and see if this helps in resolving the issue.

Please refer to the following steps:

From Microsoft account to Local account:

• Click on Start and select Settings.
• Click on Accounts.
• Now you can see Sign in with a Local account instead click on it.
• Follow the onscreen instructions by entering the password.

Local account to Microsoft account:

• Now login with Local account.
• Click on Start and select Settings.
• Click on Accounts.
• Now you can see Sign in with a Microsoft account instead click on it.
• On next pop up enter your Microsoft account ID and password and follow the onscreen instructions.
