    Cannot use MBR2GPT Conversion Tools


    Hello all,I'm attempting to convert my drive from MBR to GPT to switch to UEFI in the bios. This is all in preparation to convert to Windows 11. When I try running the conversation tool from command prompt, I get "Disk validation failed..." error. I've tried the full mbr2gpt /validate /disk:0 /allowfullos command. The drive does not have any additional partitions, it has over 200 GB of free space, and I'm running Windows 10 64-bit. I'm on the latest version of Windows 10. The drive is a Samsung 970 EVO Plus.

    I am Dave, I will help you with this.

    The mbr2gpt tool is reliable, and usually will convert the dive successfully without data loss.

    However, I would advise you to backup your data anyway, because one copy of your personal files is never enough, even if you are not performing a drive conversion.

    Creators Update MBR2GPT disk conversion tool

    Just updated to Win 10 Pro Creators Update from Win 10 Pro Anniversary Edition on Dell 64-bit laptop.

    Trying to use the new disk conversion tool to convert from MBR/Legacy to GPT/UEFI.

    Opened CMD (Admin) and typed in mbr2gpt /validate /allowFULLOS

    Get error message: Cannot find OS partition(s) for disk 0

    HDD has 2 partitions: System Reserved (350 MB, NTFS), C:, (296 GB, NTFS), and Unpartitioned (1.47 GB).

    Is there a way to make this work?

    Sir,

    I appreciate your help but

    It requires pro edition for the function,the conversion is not possible on the free edition.Is there any way to use the system provided
    mbr2gpt tool and I wish to know why the
    validation failed?
