Windows 10: Cannot update Slack

Hello,Since last Friday, I have been unable to use the Slack app on my machine. It appears it's trying to use the Windows Store to update it and then failing.I tried to attach a jpeg of the error, but that kept failing here not sure why.But when I attempt to update, I get an error that says:"Sorry about that!Something went wrong. We're aware of the issue and working to fix it. Try refreshing or come back later.Code: 0x80073CF9"I'm working on Win10 right now. I've tried reseting the Store cache wsreset, and also attempted to manually uninstall the app, but when I try that I get a similar er

Wrong Characters from Slack Notifications

We understand your concern as you are experiencing problems with notifications from the application Slack. Upon checking the screenshot that you have posted, we can see in the notification message that the html entities being
displayed.



In order to get clarity and to assist you accordingly, please reply with the answers to the questions below.

• What is the Windows 10 version and Build (1903/1909) installed? (Type
  winver in Windows search/Run command)
  
• Are you aware of any recent changes on the PC, prior to this issue?
  
• Do you see this issue on notifications for other applications?

However, most of the times the issues with toast notifications are application specific. Hence, I would suggest you to repair the app from Windows Settings.

1. Press Windows + I key to open Settings.
   
2. Click on Apps and select Apps & features from the left pane.
   
3. Search for Slack app and click on
   Advance option.
   
4. Click on Repair and check if the issue persists.
   
5. If the issue persist then Reset the app.

Note: Resetting the app will not delete the data but you need to reconfigure it with the email account that you were using prior to the reset.

App (Slack) is enabled to start up on Login, everywhere but here (greyed out)

Find Slack on the alphabetical list on your Start Menu, drag that onto the Desktop to create a new Desktop Shortcut

Open the shell:startup as explained above

Copy that new shortcut into that folder

Slack should then startup with Windows . .

 

Windows Updated(16299.309).KB4088776 Restart is required to complete.

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.
