Windows 10: CANNOT FIX TOUCHPAD--TRIED EVERYTHING--PLEASE HELP

HI I HAVE TRIED EVERY SINGLE PAGE HERE SAYING GO TO DEVICE MANAGER AND SETTINGS AND TOUCHPAD, ALL THAT, AND NOTHING WORKS--I CAN'T EVEN LOCATE A DAMN TOUCHPAD OPTION IN MY LENOVO PC LAPTOP! BASICALLY EVERY SINGLE "EXPERT" HELP LINK SAYS, OH, SIMPLE, GO TO SETTINGS, DEVICES, TOUCH PAD, ENABLE... BUT THOSE OPTIONS AREN'T EVEN ONMY LAPTOP! IT'S BRAND NEW, ONE YEAR OLD. TOUCHPAD USED TO WORK, NOW DOESN'T WORK. PLEASE HELP. IT WORKED AND NOW IT DOESN'T. I'VE COMMITTED THE HORRIBLE SIN OF USING AN EXTERNAL KEYBOARD AND TOUCHPAD AND NOW THIS BRAND NEW LAPTOP TOUCHPAD DOESN'T WORK. AND NONE OF THE HEL

No more touchpad for my laptop since upgrading to Windows 10

Hi Derek,

I would suggest the following steps :

• Press Windows + X
• Click on Device Manager
• Right click on TouchPad drivers in the list.
• Choose Upgrade Drivers
• Reboot computer

Check if this helped to fix the issue.

 

I want to disable touchpad on Dell laptop


Hello everyone,
My laptop's touchpad works and I don't want it to, because I prefer a mouse. It's a Dell Inspiron 11 3000 series on windows 10 OS.

What I have tried that hasn't worked:

• start<settings<devices<mouse & touchpad<additional mouse options. This opens a window called Mouse Options which has 5 tabs up top, none of which involve the touchpad. The Hardware tab shows 2 devices: the mouse itself, and the USB. No touchpad there.
• windows key+x<mobility center. No touchpad to be found.
• various function keys. No options for touchpad on/off.
• device manager<mice and other pointing devices. Again, only the mouse and usb show up. It appears the touchpad is working without a driver, which is a little spooky.

Any other suggestions? I could try downloading a third party driver, but that seems like a step in the wrong direction.

Thank you for the details and sorry for the delayed response.

I suggest you to set the touchpad sensitivity to Balanced from the settings which might fix the issue. Follow the steps below.

• Press Windows key + X and select Control panel.
• Search "Mouse" from the search bar towards the top right corner.
• The Mouse Properties window will open.
• Click the "Device Settings" or "Touch Pad" tab, depending on your touchpad's manufacturer. If you have a "Device Settings" tab, you will then need to click on your touchpad from the list of devices and click "Settings."
• Click the "Touch Sensitivity" button, or select "Sensitivity" from the list that appears on your screen, depending on your touchpad's manufacturer. Drag the slider in the middle of the window to the left to make your touchpad more sensitive, and drag it
  to the right to make your touchpad less sensitive. The effect will be immediate, so you can drag and release the slider, and then test the touchpad and drag the slider again until you have found a sensitivity setting that works for you.
• Click "OK" at the bottom of the window to close it and save your changes.
