Windows 10: Can I keep my old data and files from my laptop after a new PC build

So I've got this old laptop that probably had an OEM windows in it I'm not entirely sure but that's usually the case now I'm building a new PC and I'm not planning to buy another SSD because my old one in my laptop had all my data and files in it. So how can I keep my data how does this work like am I just able to put in the SSD in my new build and boot it will that work??

Ok, so i have an old laptop that's hhd was infected with a virus that screwed windows up. I have some data on the thing that i need to pull off and put onto my new laptops hhd. So what is the safest and easiest way to get the data from old laptop to new laptop?

 

Quick ways to transfer large data files to another pc

Either network or connecting the laptop drive to your PC as suggested above. With only 20GB of data the performance difference isn't that relevant.
