Windows 10: Can I install 2024-07 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 KB5040427 without installing the...

I could not install 2024-05 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 22H2 for x64-based Systems KB5037768. I received error 0x800f0989. I could not install 2024-06 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 22H2 for x64-based Systems KB5039211. Download error - 0x800f0989. Now, I am trying to install 2024-07 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 22H2 for x64-based Systems KB5040427. I received Error 0x800f0989. I tried troubleshooter but it did not work. Is it because I need to install 2024-05 and 2024-06 Cumulative Updates first before I can install 2024-07 Cumulative Update? System:

Windows won't let me install a 2024/07 Cumulative Update

I was on my laptop and proceeded to update Windows 11 to the latest version possible, like BIOS updates, Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool updates, etc.

But there's a catch: I'm having issues with installing a Cumulative Windows Update.

After installing every software update possible, I let my laptop sit for a while to install a more recent 2024/07 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 23H2 (KB5040442).

That didn't go quite well, it was still stuck at a 2024/06 Cumulative Update, and after I checked for updates, I realized that the Windows 11 23H2 cumulative update (KB5040442) has a "Download and install error" message, maybe that's the reason why.

So can you pls tell me how to fix this to never happen again? Thanks.

 

Cumulative Update for Windows 10 for x64-based Systems (KB3156387) will not install

Anyone else having problems getting the Cumulative Update for Windows 10 for x64-based Systems (KB3156387) installed? This update has been failing for me & doing a failed to update after downloading & reboot, then rebooting & removing the update.
