Windows 10: Calculator keyboard shortcuts not working in Windows 10!

today I discovered that when I press the Calculator Key on my Microsoft keyboard, it did noting but instead pop up a message saying select app but there were no apps to select. I eventually manage to solve the problem. so I thought I post it here as the solution I mention here don't solve the issue of key not doing what it should do on a keyboard.


1 go to Microsoft store from the start menu and install Microsoft Calculator.

2 after installation press Calculator keyboard key it should start working now.


3 in the event that calculator app immediately closes upon launching, go to setting > app > Calculator > advance option > click reset.

4 if step 3 doesn't resolve the problem, like it didn't for me then do the following. open windows powershell copy and paste or type the following without quotation marks. "Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$$_.InstallLocation\AppXManifest.xml”}" let it run until completion or when you see the command prompt again. then try pressing calculator key, for me after doing step 4 it was working again.


I hope this helps you as it did for me, but for those that the above method doesn't solve the issue all I can suggest is totry uninstalling and reinstalling calculator app and sorry that the method above is working for you.

Calculator keyboard shortcuts don't work in Windows 10!

To my dismay, calculator keyboard shortcut doesn't work in windows 10! It did with Windows 8.1. The Snipping Tool keyboard shortcut works in Windows 10. When I do a Search on calculator, it lists it under Programs but when I click on Open folder location,
it opens the Desktop and the calculator is NOT on the Desktop. What's going on?

• Type "Calculator" in start menu.
• Click on Calculator and drag it to desktop.
• Right click on it and select Properties.
• Now go to Shortcut tab and add a shortcut.
• Click on OK.

To assist you better regarding your concern, we suggest that you follow the steps provided by RPG 17A on June 15, 2016. Once you have the calculator on the desktop, follow these steps to create a shortcut key:

• Click on Shortcut tab.
• In line with Shortcut key, press any letter that you desire to use for shortcut.
• Once done, you can try the keys that you have created for the Calculator shortcut.
