Windows Security is no longer recognizing my CAC reader (Smart Card reader)

Windows Security seems to have randomly stopped recognizing my CAC reader, this happened early September.

Typically whenever I access a website that needs my CAC (email, DTS, etc), it prompts me to select my name from a list of credentials, which I do. Then a box pops up from Windows Security asking me to select a smart card device, I click the only option
and proceed and that's about it.

Now, though, when windows security prompts me to select a smart card device, there is no option. Instead, it simply says "connect a smart card."

I have tried with three different smart cards, all of which operate on other computers, none on mine. Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media as well as the Device Manager both recognize the CAC reader when plugged in. I've uninstalled the device from device
manager, reinstalled it and also updated the driver from the product's website.

To me, it seems that the computer is still recognizing the reader and the software is there - but Windows Security is somehow blocking the system from accessing/recognizing/allowing the reader.

    Any suggestions?

I'm running Windows 10 and the CAC reader is ActivIdentity's USB Reader v3.0, P/N: ZFG-9820GAC

Windows 10 Update removed ability of my CAC reader(s) to recognize CAC Cards--no earlier posts fix problem.

    I have an HP ProBook 640 G3, i5-7200U CPU @ 2.5GHz; 8 GB RAM; 64-Bit running Win 10 - version 1903.

I have an internal CAC reader, an external USB CAC reader and a USB Keyboard/CAC reader. Through April 2020 all three worked fine. Then a Win10 update was pushed in May 2020 (approx 5-11 May 20) that disabled any of the CAC readers from recognizing when
    the CAC is inserted.

The CAC device manager is running most recent update on driver and is functioning properly. All of the CAC readers drivers are current and functioning normally. The CAC card is functioning normally and is usable in other machines/readers without a problem.

I successfully fixed my problem by restoring the Windows configuration to earlier April version--everything worked fine; all three CAC readers. Until today, 19 May 20--I came to work and the computer auto-updated with new Windows update and again all of
    my CAC readers are inoperable.

Now I can't restore back to the April version because Windows no longer shows that restore point as an option; besides that would be a temporary fix, since the next update would break it again.

Yes--I have followed every solution that can be identified by Google and on your help site--none of them work.

It is not an "administrator/authority" issue; it is not a network issue; I have powered-down/restarted; I have unplugged/plugged each reader; I have updated all drivers; I have restored Win10 back to 11 May (earliest available to me).

How do I get Windows10 to allow my CAC readers to recognize when a CAC has been inserted?

CAC Card reader not detecting the card

Hello, I've read several posts with the EXACT same question, but they're not resolved, so I'm starting my own. I'm in the military and use a CAC CARD reader to access websites. After a recent windows update, my computer no longer detects my CAC CARD. The
card reader is fine, but the card itself isn't detecting. I REPEAT, the card reader is fine. (Also, its NOT an SD card. Its a CAC card. On an other post here, a fix was suggested for an SD card. Its not an SD card).

The card reader is detected, I've updated and reinstalled the driver multiple times. I've tried rolling it back. The card reader shows on the computer under Device Manager, it shows on other computers too, and the CAC Card works on other computers. It is
not a problem with the card reader, or the card, it is a problem with some settings in this computer. Internet explorer, google chrome, and firefox all fail to see the CAC Card on this computer. Can you please help fix how my computer will detect the card
    itself?

The card reader i'm using is called "Stanley Global Technologies" and in Device Manager it shows as Smart Card Reader- "Alcor Micro USB Smart Card Reader".

    Thanks!
