Windows 10: Brand New Laptop, Windows Update Not Working

Just got a new Asus laptop today. before I'd even finished setting it up it checked for updates and tried to install. Then flashed a message, 'Something didn't go as planned. No need to worry-undoing changes.'Once Windows did finally open, I tried to run the update manually. Same thing happened. This isn't a disk space issue, the machine is right-out-of-the-box with a full TB of storage.

I ran the troubleshoot power option and it said “Display brightness setting is too high”

but it’s a brand new laptop, i should think I could expect the most from it.

I haven’t tried the next steps uou have suggested yet.

Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.

Brand new laptop breaking after update.

My sister has a brand new laptop, and i was uninstalling some of the acer bloatware. As i restarted the laptop, it started updating. Afterwards, i cant do anything. None of the troubleshooting options work. I cant even reset it.
