Boot Device kept on HDD while Windows OS installed on SSD

Originally I was bringing the Windows OS from an HDD for a new build. Somehow, I have installed the Windows 11 in the SSD later on but the boot manager had kept in the HDD. Which means I need to plug in both HDD and SSD for the PC to run normally. Recently I would like to upgrade with a NEW SSD, and it appears cloning the existing SSD to the NEW SSD doesn’t boot up the PC.May I ask if the boot manager could move from the HDD to the existing SSD then do the clone?Or if there is any method that I can reinstall windows with the boot manager without losing any data?Thank you

    :)

  2. Automatic repair while booting from hdd and installing windows on ssd.

    1. Migrated windows from hdd to ssd
    2. Formatted hdd
    3. Prioritised boot from ssd in bios
    4. Turned on the pc
    5. Automatic repair

To deal with this I select boot from a device > then EFI USB device > it says no bootable USB detected, select from these drives > there are few options including the newly installed ssd > I select ssd > then it shows disk checking, press any key to stop > I stop it > windows then boots from ssd.

It very difficult to repeat all this everytime I turn on my pc. Please suggest a fix.

Boot Device kept on HDD while Windows OS installed on SSD

Clean install of windows 11 on SSD (current OS on HDD)

    2. I have HDD in my system and a SSD slot ( Sata M.2). I am planning to use both. In order to boot windows from the SSD, do I need to delete the previous windows in the HDD?

    Add to other given instructions:

Disconnect old HDD before doing clean install to SSD. If you don't do that it will create dual boot system and all boot information is located to that old HDD.

When new OS is installed to SSD you can reconnect old HDD, but go to BIOS and make sure that SSD is set to first boot device.
