Windows 10: Black Screen Problem with no Task Manager Access

I have a black screen problem I cannot solve. I have a HPE-450t tower running Windows 10 that has run fine for years. I recently went away for two months and shut down the PC before I left. When I returned, upon startup, I got a black screen. I used Ctl-Alt-Del to reboot a couple of times – no help. I then tried Task Manager a couple of times and although it loaded, I was unsure what to force stop, took no action, and rebooted. Then Task Manager quit loading when I called for it. At one point, a McAfee bubble popped up saying that

Computer boots to windows log on,have no password here.After a minute on log on it go to a black screen,stays there forever. I can get to Task Manager from black Screen,lost on what to do next. Just want my Windows 10 back, not sure what caused this problem. Any Suggestion on what my next step should be?*Sad

So this is not a BSOD ? Have a Windows 10 disc or USB Flash Drive made ? How are you getting to task manager Ctrl.+Alt+Del ? Any cursor on screen ?

 

Black Screen on Windows 10, Can't access Task Manager

Hello,

I recently have run into the black screen of death on Windows 10. I have the cursor that moves around, but nothing else pops up on the screen. I have been looking around to find out what I can do to fix this and have seen that if I can access task manager
I can fix the problem. Unfortunately Task Manager won't pop up. I know my keyboard works, because the Windows P key brings up the Project Connect Screen and Windows U brings up the on screen keyboard option (that didn't work either).

Is there any other way to access Task Manager, or is there any other option to fix the problem?
