    Bitlocker recovery commands...

    hello:

When I logged in to my Microsoft account to find my BitLocker recovery key, I found 19 recovery keys. I want to unlock Bitlocker via CMD using my recovery key. But why are there 19 recovery keys and how do I really know which one is for my new laptop or should I try all of it?

I found this, https://www.****/blog/decrypt-bitlocker-encrypted-drive-from-command-line/ the **** is www. top-password. com. no space. I don't know why it will not show **** when typing the link. Or, you can go to Google and type in How to Decrypt BitLocker-Encrypted Drive from Command Line and click on the link with the texts: How to Decrypt BitLocker-Encrypted Drive from Command Line. or https://www.isumsoft.com/it/decrypt-bitlocker-encrypted-drive-from-command-line/ and want to use CMD to unlock it. My laptop's CMD states the same as from the website, How to Decrypt BitLocker-Encrypted Drive from Command Line, X: \WINDOWS\system32>. So, my question is: When I enter the command via CMD: manage-bde -unlock C: -RecoveryPassword XXXXXX-XXXXXX-XXXXXX-XXXXXX-XXXXXX-XXXXXX-XXXXXX-XXXXXX put an X to not show people my recovery key, will it state the same message as in the website: The password successfully unlock volume C:.? If it is successful and doing the next command, turn off BitLocker Encryption, manage-bde -off C:, will it be successful or not? My question is: After typing in the commands, it should successfully unlock the volume C or my new laptop is Asus does the commands not work with my Asus laptop?

I need to reinstall Windows 10 via unlocking BitLocker, since there is an issue with my Windows 10 that requires reinstallation of Windows 10.

    :)

  3. recovery bitlocker blue screen

    Hi Rick,

Please follow the suggestions below and check if you are able to boot to your desktop.

    • Places to look for your BitLocker key:
      • On a printout you saved. Look in places you keep important papers.
      • Saved on a USB flash drive. Plug the USB flash drive into your locked PC and follow the instructions. If you saved the key as a text file on the flash drive, use a different computer to read the text file.
      • In your Microsoft account. To get your recovery key, go to
        BitLocker Recovery Keys.

    • Or ask someone for help:
      • Ask someone with administrator privileges on the same PC to unlock it with their key.
      • If your PC is connected to a domain (usually a work or school computer), ask a system administrator for your recovery key

Hope this helps in resolving the bitlocker recovery keys. Keep us posted on the bitlocker recovery key issues. We are happy to help!

    BitLocker Recovery key not correct

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

I understand that you are facing issues with BitLocker recovery key on your PC. I will certainly try my best to assist you with the issue.

Let’s try disabling secure boot on the PC. Follow the steps mentioned below and check if that helps.

    1. Power the device off and then back on.
    2. Look for a message on the boot screen just before or after the manufacturer logo appears. You may need to press the F1, F2, or Delete button, whatever key is indicated on the boot screen to enter BIOS Settings.
    3. Inside BIOS, look for a tab called BOOT and select that page. Depending on the BIOS manufacturer, this page could be BOOT, ADVANCED, STARTUP, etc.
    4. Look for a setting for UEFI Secure Boot. Each BIOS could have a different name for this. These are the keywords to look for: UEFI, Secure Boot, Legacy Boot.
    5. Toggle the Secure Boot setting to disabled and attempt to boot the machine.

In addition, you can try disabling BitLocker using the manage bde commands and see if that helps. Try booting the PC in WinRE mode and then refer the article

    Disable-BitLocker

Kindly follow the steps to boot to WinRE mode.

    1. Reboot the PC using Power button and once you see the manufacturer logo press the power button again.
    2. Repeat step 1 at least 2-3 times until you see the System Recovery Options screen
    3. On the System Recovery Options screen, select
      Troubleshoot
      > Advanced options > Command Prompt.

If the issue persists, I would suggest you to post your query on TechNet
    forums
, where we have support professionals who are well equipped with the knowledge on issues related to Bit-Locker, to assist you with your query.
