Windows 10: Auto insert comma after greeting using mail merge

I am using an Excel spreadsheet with names and addresses to add a 'greeting' to a letter in Word. I would like to have a comma placed after the greeting last name of the recipient without having to manually add to each name. Is this possible and how?

Having trouble even after backspacing the auto adding comma and when inserting as a contact it adds the comma. Comes back as mail demon of course.

Mail merge with Windows Mail

Can you do a mail merge to email using Windows Mail? I've set my default email app to Mail, but it doesn't send the emails. I've done mail merges to Outlook in the past so have no trouble going through the right steps in Word, using an Excel list for the
email addresses.
