Windows 10: Audio turns muffled when i join a voice call.

When im in a voice call, google meet web, whatsapp, etc my audio turns muffled. I can still somewhat hear voices clearly, but at lower quality and there is a significant difference of the voice audio quality when im not in the voice call vs in the voice call. As for music, sound effects etc i totally cannot hear them, or they sound really soft and muffled. Somehow, this issue does not occur when im using the Discord app, but occurs when i use Discord web call, whatsapp app call, google meet call, zoom web and app.

Muffled headphone audio

Hi, I just bought a new set up and downloaded my games onto it. However, whenever i play games that requires microphone permissions, the game audio becomes muffled and makes the game unplayable (Every other app or device i use with the headphones works fine). I found out that disabling microphone permissions for the app makes the audio go back to normal but the few games requires me to use the voice chat sometimes so i can’t possibly turn it off. Anyone know why this happens and how to get rid of it? Help would be appreciated!!

 

Audio Muffle when in voice communication

I understand that the audio begins to muffle immensely, distort and will constantly change volume levels, while using the game.

Please answer these questions to get more clarity on this issue:

  Have you installed all pending updates on the pc?
  

Sign out from the current user account, restart the pc and login to the Admin account or the MSA to test if that helps with this issue.

Also suggest you to install any pending Windows updates on the pc to check if that helps.
Updates are additions to software that can help prevent or fix problems, improve how your computer works, or enhance your computing experience.

Further, you may also boot the computer in a clean boot state and check the tool installation status. When you start Microsoft Windows, typically there are several programs that start automatically and run in the background that may interfere
with the system. These programs may include antivirus and system utility programs. When you perform a clean startup procedure, you prevent these programs from starting automatically.

Note: After you have finished troubleshooting, follow the steps under “How to reset the computer to start as usual after troubleshooting with clean boot” in the article to boot to normal startup.

I understand that you're having problems with muffled audio. Sorry to hear that.

It might just be the computer audio driver. Try these steps:

1. Win + R to open the run box

2. Type: devmgmt.msc <Enter>

3. Look for "Sound, video, and game controllers" and then expand it by clicking the ">" on the left

4. Right-click each driver and select "Uninstall". Do it to all drivers you see under it

5. Restart the computer. The restart will reinstall these drivers back automatically.

6. Test again
