Windows 10: ATI Radeon HD 4200 driver for 64-bit Windows 10?

Did just updating the the beta 13.4 driver and then running the windows 10 update work? if not what am I missing.

Can you talk me through the process step by step.

My wife has a x1950 pro card in her computer. What do you think? Do you think that the beta legacy driver will work with this card and Win10?

 

The in-box drivers only support the HD 2000 series and newer. It looks like you should be able to get it working in Windows 10, but you'll have to use a pretty old driver: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/i...6b180ad?auth=1

Thanks a lot, i regained 1920x1080 screen resolution back *Cool,although not receive all display driver settings, but you can set from windows the maximum resolution supported by the monitor .

 

Guys, I am having trouble for which I have not found an answer anywhere. I have a laptop with Radeon HD 4250. After upgrading to Win10, I get black screen (although only after logging into Win, before logging, the screen works). I tried the procedure: restart into Safe mode with networking, in order to download the driver 8.970.100.9001. However, I cannot connect to the internet. Win tells me, in this mode, that they cannot find any network device. Unfortunately, I cannot find this particular driver for direct download anywhere. I would like to download it onto another computer and try to run it/install it from a flash drive.
I guess clean install of Win10 is not going to help either :-(. Any advice?

After quitting the Safe mode, I restarted to standard mode again, heading to try running the update using these instructions. However, miraculously, the display worked.
I did the clean install afterwards and the display works again... Great relief.

 

I upgraded to Win 10 on my pavilion dv7 4060us and everything went well except the catalyst center was disabled and the two graphics cards (4200 and 5650) were not being efficiently controlled anymore so my machine ran loud and hot. I went back to win 7 but just recently found this forum. I might try the Phil Gates solution but would need to know where the directory for the inf file that is installed by the legacy driver would be found so I could complete the manual update of the driver.

I recently installed Windows 10 because got new MBO+CPU+RAM, so went on 64-bit, and why not go on latest Windows - I don't want to see that some SW won't work because is made only for latest versions.
And I encountered something like opposite problem - my ATI HD 2600XT has no driver for Win10. Not surprised - same was with Pinnacle drivers and many others. I really don't see why I should now get some new graphic card, when this is very good for watching movies - better than Nvidia cards, and I even can play some little older games well. Full HD playback takes really little CPU power because GX card help.
I tried what was suggested in this thread - to run in compatibility mode and as admin - but it worked not - tried 2 latest versions of driver. It was just that Assistant stucked at one point, and did not continue install. Then I tried to avoid it, and run separated setup files for diverse parts - like display driver installer. It said that not for this Windows version. To add, that I deinstalled existing driver + everything AMD display related, and ended tasks with task manager. Then came idea to do driver install without setup program - so did it in old fashion: Device Manager, then install driver - manually select location - selected DIR of installer (what can not work in Win10 by them) and voila - driver installed.
Ofcourse, even more wanted to install CCC - that color/brightness settings on monitor are really somethin what only Microsoft can shamelessly to provide - really pathetic. And it is possible too - just use msi file in APPS/CCC/Core-static. It installs well. I did not add it in startup, just put link on Desktop. And now I have it all, using driver and CCC what is not for Win 10 *Smile


Conclusion - *******s made it intentionally not installable, while driver and CCC is perfectly good for Win10, just to force people to throw away their old (actually only 5-8 years) HW and buy new - and pollute further our Planet.

 

I have a Acer Aspire 5552 and it has a ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250 And will these drivers work with it. I need the 64bit drivers..?

 

URGENT!!! PLEASE HELP!!!

What is the full name of the .inf file I need to direct the driver updater to on the device manager in order to install the ATI graphics driver for the 4200 series (the same one you use). All the .inf files I have tried so far, seem to keep reinstalling the Basic Windows Graphics Driver and this is not what I want. Please help.

I just wanted to elaborate on this installation a bit. It did work. However for a semi unsavvy tech person it took me a difficult amount of time to get it to work. I have the AMD HD 4770 running dual monitors on Windows 10.

The first step in the process is to download AMD CC 13.4 from the website located here:

Once it is downloaded, you can just install the .exe file by the usual process without any compatibility mode process. It'll tell you that there is an error in the log at the end of installation. And the driver failed to install. That is completely OKAY.

Next step is to proceed to your device manager. Look for "Display Adapter" and your graphics card model under it. Right click on the model and select update driver. Then you will select the options where you pick your own disk file (Browse my computer > Let me pick a list of devices... > Have Disk > Browse for the following folder: X:/AMD/AMD_catalyst_13.4 file/Packages/drivers/display/(This is where it gets tricky) .

Tricky part: There should be approximately six .INF files in the two folders after .../display/. You will follow the process above and try all six files until you are able to change the resolution to the best setting (or when it automatically fixes the resolution).

This completes the installation.

Furthermore: I had issues getting both my monitors to display at 1920x1200. Only one monitor was able to do that. The other would only display it's highest at 1600x1200. Luckily, I've encountered this issue in the past and knew it had to do with my DVI to VGA adapter. I have a few spare so I tried them each out until one adapter gave me the 1920x1200 resolution. They cost a few bucks for a pack on Ebay. Make sure you're buying the right one.

I just upgraded from Win 8.1 to Win 10, and got the green screen video in FB. This Chrome tweak worked for me, too. Thank you.

When I try to manually install the older driver, instead of flickering, the screen goes black and never comes back. I also experience the black screen after every boot. The loading screen is shown with no problem, but then it turns black. I realized if I tap the power button once, suspending the computer, and turn it back on, the screen works again. But it sucks to suspend the PC everytime after freshly turning it on.

Furthermore, my CCC does not work with neither driver (not with the one Windows automatically sets, nor with the one that comes with Catalyst 13.4).

I've tried everything I've read on this matter; cleaned everything with DDU, installed manually from Device Manager, you name it. Nothing seems to fix the black screens and give me the CCC full control back. I'd appreciate any help.

Edit: figured it wouldn't harm mentioning I just clean installed Windows 10, I'm using stock drivers for about everything and have an almost virgin registry.

 

I have a hd 4770 that works fine with Windows 10. My driver is 8.970.100.9001. I recently downloaded a game that tells me I need update to driver 15.30.1025.1001 from the Crimson Edition. I'm aware that AMD discontinued support for the 4770 in 2013. But apparently, some are using newer drivers successfully. I'm wondering if anyone has had success using the 15.30.1025.1001 driver.
