Alt + number symbols no longer working

Hello there,Would anyone happen to know how to fix my "alt+number" symbols no longer working? I'm talking about those little hearts and arrow symbols that you'd usually get by pressing left alt + any numbers on your numpad. I checked that my numpad is on, and I have tried all the solutions listed here or here but none of them work Mouse keys, and EnableHexNumpad, and check the Accessibility settings, etc..My Windows 10 is up to date, and the symbols still worked about a week ago so I really don't understand what's happening here. Even the most basic symbols like alt+1 that's a smiley doesn

    Alt+Number displays wrong symbols

Hello Cluas62 Alt + number symbols no longer working :)

Type Character in the search box on the taskbar and select Character Map.

This should open a window which lets you see what characters are assigned to the various shortcuts. Here is mine - an alternative for the £ is ALT + 0163

    Alt+Number displays wrong symbols

    Hi,

I've just discovered that my ALT symbols don't work correctly. For instance ALT+156 on the right hand keypad (which should produce the Pound sign) now yields ♠ - and so on ALT+157 = •, ALT+158 = ◘ etc. Can somebody help me? (it doesn't matter whether I type the "+" as well). Any help would be deeply appreciated. Thanks

Alt keys are not working on my computer

Before proceeding with further attempt at solving my problem, I need to point out that I may not have asked my question very clearly. What I intended was that using the
Alt key with the numerical keys to produce a whole host of different symbols doesn't work. E.g. Alt + 1 and Alt +2 should produce smiley faces, Alt + 3 a heart and later numbers in combination with the Alt key all sorts of special characters. This function
of the Alt keys is what doesn't work, not the Alt keys themselves. Sorry if this was not clear! Are your previous suggestions still relevant?
