All Permission to Everyone user to C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService folder -...

    Hello,

One of our vendor is asking to give user "EVERYONE" the Read, Write, Modify permission to folder NetworkService under C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles
This will allow their customized scripts to run as desired.

But I am worried that it will be a major security compromise.

    Please suggest.

    :)

    files in ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\Documents

    Hi,

I have found 14G (28G in total) of the same files under both ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\Documents and ServiceProfiles\LocalService\Documents. These files relate to a VMware Player Linux virtual machine. I no longer use VMware player. I would like
to delete the files to recover the space.

Is it OK to delete these files under "Documents"?

    Thanks in advance

    Chris

  3. No permissions

    Hi,

I would suggest you to right click on the user's folder for your profile and check if the permissions shows as "read only'. If this is the case, it might be causing the issue. In this case, I would suggest you to go to C:\User folder, right click on the
folder with your username and follow these steps:

    • Open the properties of the main user profile folder where the files are located (such as Documents, Pictures, etc).
    • Go to the Security tab and click Advanced.
    • Check the box at the bottom of this window. It is labeled "Replace all child object permissions with inheritable permissions from this object" and then click Ok.
This does a one-time action that replaces the security on all the files/subfolders. It’s one-time, so you won’t find that box checked if you peek at it later. Try these steps and let us know the results for further assistance.

    files in ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\Documents

    Hi Hasta99,

I would suggest that you should not delete the file path as it consists of different folders or database system files. To gain enough space, I suggest that only delete the folder for VMware Player Linux virtual machine
and delete unnecessary and temporary files and perform a Disk cleanup. Here's how:

    To delete temporary files:

    1. Search for Disk cleanup from the taskbar and select it from the list of results.
    2. Under Files to delete, select the file types to get rid of. To get a description of the file type, select it.
    3. Select OK.

If you need to free up more space, you can also delete system files:

    1. In Disk cleanup, select Clean up system files.
    2. Select the file types to get rid of. To get a description of the file type, select it.
    3. Select OK.

To empty the recycle bin and delete temporary files:

    1. Select the Start button, and then select Settings > System > Storage.
    2. Under Storage, select This PC > Temporary files.
    3. Make sure that Recycle Bin and Temporary files are selected in the list of files, and review any other files types that are selected.
    4. Select Remove files.
    5. Restart your PC.

If you would like me to provide additional advice, simply respond to this thread. I will get notified and I’ll reply to you as soon as I can.
