Windows 10: After Windows 11 24H2 Update Client PCs Show Offline in Server 2016 Essentials Dashboard

Server 2016 Essentials and 2016 Standard. Both have Essentials Dashboard.Windows 11 clients updated automatically to 24H2. Once done all showed Offline under Devices. Checked the clients and they all showed they had connection to server, but Network no longer showed any of the other PCs on the Network. Network files were still available from each client.Searched for a solution and found a number of users having similar issues with Network connection. Only solution was to Roll Back each client to 23H2 and set Group Policy to only allow updates to 23H2. This w

Windows Server Backups for Windows 11 Client

I use Windows Server 2012R2 to back up my various desktops and laptops. I've used the Windows Server 2012 Essentials Client Connector on the various Windows platforms I've had - all Windows 10. I just updated a PC to Windows 11. I was able to install the Client Connector and launch the Essentials Dashboard to monitor the Windows Server 2012 machine. The problem is that the server doesn't see the Windows 11 Client. Windows Server 2012 is not quite EOL yet, so I would think connectivity for current platforms would still exist? Also, I haven't found anything regarding Windows 11 Clients for later versions of Windows Server (2016, 2019).

Are there options to use Windows Server 2012 (or later versions) to backup Windows 11 clients?

 

Does Windows Server 2016 Essentials support waking client computers for backup?

I'm setting up a domain using a server running Windows Server 2016 Essentials. I have set up the client computer backups within the server dashboard. What I can't figure out is whether the server will automatically wake up sleeping/hibernating client computers in order to create the backup. I've found this Technet link that says that for Windows Server 2012, you just need to enable the "Wake This Computer for Backup" option when you connect the computer to the server. However, I can't find anything either on the server dashboard or on the client computers (which are all running Windows 10) with this option. So, for the 2016 version, is this automatically enabled? If not, how do I enable this?

 

Upgrade Windows Server Essentials 2016 to 2022

I haven't done this in a while. I have a client who is moving from Windows Server 2016 Essentials to the newest version Windows Server 2022 Essentials. What steps should I follow in performing this migration? Thanks.
