    After lock screen I randomly "lose" my main monitor


    I'm using win10, and two monitors: a Samsung Odyssey G7 main and an LG 23MB35 older, secondaryI have a Gainward Phantom Geforce RTX 4080 with an up-to-date driver.Background:The setup has worked fine for over a year, but sometimes an odd error occurs. It happened first around November of 2024, but it happened like 1-2 times per month. In the last 2 weeks, the error seems more frequent. The error:After locking the computer the method doesn't affect the outcome, I can log in again without a problem. If I wait more than 1 minute, the monitors shut down. This doesn't usually cause a problem;

    Computer Randomly locks up

    Ok, so my dads pc (its in sp) completely randomly locks up.

    Im not sure what the deal is.

    it was working fine, i swapped boards and it game me a memory error but no big deal, fixed that. now, it locks up a few times a day, whether it is in the bios, or post screen, windows, trying to format windows ect.

    Im not sure what to do! if its the board i'll rma it and give him "back" the P45 but if its ram or hdd idk...

    what do you suggest?

    Computer randomly has black screen and restarts

    Taco this could be software also. Before you get all crazy, do as Erocker suggested. Find out the error in the Event Viewer. Look for the faulting module and the error code itself. Also check the reliability monitor. At the bottom it will have "View all Error Reports". Post a screen of whats in there if anything.

    This could be a simple as a bad driver install.

    ALSO have you downloaded or installed anything lately? STAY OUT OF THE DAMN BIOS UNTIL WE KNOW THE ERROR! lol. I know you. Baby steps boy, baby steps.

    Hi,

    Thank you for posting on Microsoft Community.

    I would suggest you to follow the below steps to try resolving the issue.

    Setting the timeout for Lock Screen

    • Press Windows + I and select personalization.
    • Select Lock screen.

    • Select the Screen Timeout setting.
    • Select the time of timeout you need and check.

    Keep us posted if the issue resolves to help you better.
