Windows 10: After changing local Administrator account to local user group, I cannot log into Windows...

Hello,I need help with an issue I encountered after making changes to my Windows 10 user accounts.Initially, I was advised not to use the local Administrator account as my primary account. So, I created a new local user account with a password.Then, I disabled the Built-in Administrator account by using cmd.However, I later created another local user account with the same username and password through Command Prompt.After this, when I tried to switch user accounts, I got stuck because the new local account's password was reported as incorrect.Now, I am unable to access Windows 10 and cannot en

Windows 10 - Unable to log into Administrator account after removing Administrator from Local Users Group

I removed my Administrator account from the Local users group and then was forced to restart before I could add the group back. After the reboot my password no longer worked for my Administrators account.

Methods I have tried to access my Administrators account...

Rebooting to safe mode to use Default Administrator account

Cmd Prompt net localgroup users Name /add

windows + r lusrmgr.msc local users + groups > users > name > member of > Add

windows + x computer management same as above

My question: Is an Administrator required to be a member of the local group "Users" to be able to log in? If not, why would removing myself from this group cause my password to not work?

Local group administrator password

is 'local group administrator' a user you or someone else has created? (if so Frederik has given you the answer)

or are you confusing it with the administrators group on the local computer which contains all users with administrative permissions?

the group does not have a password, the users do. when asked for local group administrator password, you can use any user from that group.

if you log on as an administrator you can change/reset the password of other local users.

if you have forgotten the password for a Microsoft account you can reset it

Hello Frank, and welcome to Ten Forums.

If you have the Windows 10 Home edition, then it will not have Local Users and Groups (lusrmgr.msc) included in it. It's only available in the Pro and Enterprise editions instead.

If you like, you could use step 3 in OPTION THREE of the tutorial below list users in a group.
