    Activation Issue after upgrading from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10


    Hi,


    Today , I upgraded my Laptop's windows 8.1 to Windows 10 using Microsoft website's media Creation Tool, the Windows was activated while running version 8.1 but after upgrading I get Windows is not Activated issue, moreover I tried to Activate using 'Change Product Key' and I put my own product key in it, and I repeatedly got the same Error - "Something has prevented us from communicating with our Application Servers. Wait a few minutes and try again. 0x87e10bcf".

    And I have tried several times now in 5 hours.


    Please help me in activating the Windows, prompt response would be appreciated.

    Windows 10 upgrade issues on W8.1

    thems the brakes unless you completed the upgrade at least once you can't activate windows 8.1
    re-partition the drive and reload windows 8 activate it then you should be-able to upgrade
    just make sure the partitions are large enough what you described sounds like left over partitioning from windows 7 which is fine for 8 but not 10

    From Why can't I activate Windows?

    If you upgraded to Windows 10 for free and ended up in a non-activated state, try following these steps:

    • Go to Start

      , then select Settings > Update & security > Activation.
    • Select Go to Store, and check to see if a valid license is available for your device. If a license isn't available, you'll need to buy Windows from the Store.

      Note
      • This only applies if you haven't made changes to the hardware for your device.

    or you could hack it with a crack but please note this is always risky and you don't know what's in the hack

    I won't buy a key, stupid.

    I'll revert back to windows 7 then.

    When I still was on windows 7, about a year ago I added 4GB extra ram which is a total of 8GB now,
    is that causing the problem?
