    Hello Everyone,I originally had 2 retail Win8 licences. I upgraded one PC to Windows 10 long time ago.I wasn't able to upgrade my other Windows 8 PC, due to its old CMOS battery.Today I've changed the battery. Upgrade went smoothly, but now Windows thinks that I've changed a hardware and it doesn't activate automatically.I see new devices in my MS account page for some reason.When I troubleshoot the activation, it allows me to pick a device from my MS account but I only see my other PC already activated with Windows 10I tried entering my product keys but they didn't work either.I contacted

    Does CMOS battery make an important role?

    This means the CMOS battery has failed - you need to purchase a new CMOS battery. As suggested by another expert you should upgrade your BIOS and then do the CMOS battery replacement and this should stop it.

    Lost activation after cmos battery replaced

    My computer required a cmos battery replacement, this morning.

    It is/was running Windows 10 (upgraded from Windows 7).

    Battery replaced.

    However - I am now told that Windows is not activated and I need to supply a key (which naturally I don't have, due to the upgrade).

    How do I overcome this - can't find an answer on Support?
