  1. Acer Recovery Management - Recovery Windows to Factory settings

    Hello everyone,

I would like to ask. How can I restore Windows to Factory reset with all Acer apps and drivers like recovery management, etc. I have Acer Aspire E5 with Windows 10 and I tried (for the first time when I had Recovery Management) complete restore from Acer Recovery Management and it restored clean Windows 10 without these apps.

Can I somehow use installation from recovery partition? There are two and I think, it could be work somehow with Push Button Reset partition.

Thank you very much for help.

    P.S. I don't have much time and don't have restore DVD's.

    :)

  5. Thank you. But I don't see the link anywhere. The only one thing, what I can download is Acer Care Center, but I don't want Care Center.
Originally was this notebook instaled with Windows 8 but now there's Windows 10. I suppose, that reinstallation with recovery partition takes me up back to the Windows 8. I forget to say that I tried Alt + F10 too, but it's not working because It says, that I have to put the installation media into drive.

  6. RainbowShaggy,

Would think that if you use the Acer Recovery Partition, you would be going back to Windows 8 (or 8.1), and the laptop would be restored to the original factory configuration. (Note: This erases all your data on the system.)

What happens if you press the Power button, then, when you see the Acer logo, quickly press and hold the left Alt key, and very quickly start tapping the F10 key.
Does it take you to Recovery? If the laptop goes on to Windows, power it down, and do the same sequence again. Any luck?

If no luck, can you boot into BIOS (Setup) by pressing F2 when you see the Acer logo, and check to see if the D2D Recovery option is enabled?
You normally find this in the Main tab of the BIOS, but as the BIOS can vary, you may need to look in other areas.

If found, make sure D2D Recovery is enabled.
Then, press F10 to Save and Exit.

Back at the Acer logo, hold Alt and tap F10.
See if the Recovery program works.

If still no luck, try clicking the Windows key, and click: Settings > Update and Security > Recovery > Reset this PC (press: Get started)
In the Choose an Option screen, do you see this option:

    Restore Factory Settings
Removes your personal files, apps and settings, and reinstalls the version of Windows that came on this PC

*Arrow If not, please upload a screenshot of: Disk Management
Disk Management - How to Post a Screenshot of
Let's see if after installing Windows 10 the left Alt + F10 does not work, but the Acer Recovery partition may still be there??

*Arrow How long ago did you upgrade from Win 8 to Win 10?

Other options, if you do have the Recovery partition:

You could use a Windows 8 ISO to install the OS, and see if the Acer Recovery program runs.
Windows 8.x and Windows 10 ISO Direct Download Links
Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 ISO - Download or Create
You will need the product key for your previous windows version, Windows 8.

Another option, is a Hirens.Boot CD:
Download Hiren’s BootCD 15.2 | HBCD Fan & Discussion Platform
To boot to the Acer Recovery Partition use the Smart Boot Manager included in Hiren's menu.

  7. Thank you very much for your long response *Smile

Yes, I would like to restore original factory configuration.

Like as I said. For the first time I tried Acer Recovery from Alt + F10 menu, but It said, that I need put the Installation media for continue.

    D2D recovery is Enabled.

The only one thing what worked, was reset from recovery in Windows 10 settings, but It restored all Windows without Acer's default apps. That's the reason why this topic exists, becuase I want to restore with the default Acer's apps.

I'll try the iso's what you posted and let you know. If the problem will still exists, I'll post you the Disk Management screenshot.

  8. Acer Recovery Management - Recovery Windows to Factory settings

    RainbowShaggy,

Did the reset from recovery in Windows 10 settings take you back to Win 8/8.1?

If so, the Win 8 ISO is not going to get you the Acer apps.

You will need to go to Acer, and look for them there. Acer also has a forum, and maybe can guide you as to how to get these apps.

  9. A backup drive made with the Acer Recovery Management / Create Factory Default would solve the problem, but, it is not available, so there is always the option of obtaining a Restore CD for the Acer Aspire E5. There is a charge, though.

    Purchase Recovery Media

*Arrow Please post a snapshot of Disk Management to see if the Recovery partition is still there.

  10. The reset from Windows 10 recovery settings only reset the Windows 10 to the clean install. It's not return me back to the Windows 8. The recovery partitions are still there. Now I'm trying to install Windows 8.1 from the ISO files, but without deleting the recovery partitions. I don't know if the hiren's boot iso what you send me will work, because there is UEFI boot.

There's must be some way how to recovery system with the recovery partition even if you don't have Acer Recovery Management and reset from alt + f10 recovery isn't working.

  11. RainbowShaggy,

The following are some instructions that address the lack of Alt / F10, and how to otherwise access the Recovery Partition:
Recover the Acer Partition – David Whelan

If you decide to use these instructions, it is at your own risk. I have not used them, nor can I guarantee them. However, hope they help.

In your case, since there is no Linux issue, the journey starts at the title: Backup the Acer Partition
    Use:
    1. Creating a Disk or Partition Image
    2. Boot manager Boot-US: Welcome

Since you are dealing with UEFI, you probably need to disable Secure Boot, and/or go back to Legacy Mode to get to the Recovery partition:

F8 Advanced Boot Options - Enable or Disable in Windows 10

Out time difference is 7 hours!! *Huh

  12. 7 hours :O And thank you for the links.

So I tried it with combination ALT + F10 and after message put the installation media into drive, i put the Windows 8.1 ISO. Then it started reset. So I was waiting for few hours and after that it finally shows me the Acer screen with choosing the language. I was so happy, when I saw it. But the enthusiasm subsided when I saw the Windows without Acer apps and drivers.

So now I think, that reset PC to the factory configuration from the original ISO file is not possible. Maybe there's problem with the WindowsRE and it's not enabled after the clean install. Maybe if I somehow enable it and after that I'll recover the system, it will work. But I have no idea how the WinRE works.

  14. Yes, that's maybe true, that you can find the drivers on Acer's page, but still you don't have the preinstalled apps and OEM information from the factory configuration. :/

  15. To get these, you need to purchase the Reccovery CDs from Acer, or, you can try Post #9 and see if you can access the Recovery partition.

The best option, IMO, is to purchase the Recovery CD from Acer. You can keep the CD for any future issue, if one were to occur.
