Drive Letter for Partition Keeps Disappearing on Windows 11

I have a new laptop with Windows 11 installed (no upgrade but clean installation). I have added a partition and assigned it the drive letter Z. Sometimes after rebooting, sometimes after waking up from hibernation mode, sometimes even whilst in use, the drive letter simply disappears. The partition is fine, I "just" have to reassign the drive letter every few days. Any idea what causes that and how to fix it?

 

Drive Letter Disappears after Reboot

Since upgrading to windows 10 my secondary hard drive letter disappears.

I can go to Disk Management and assign it the same drive letter again and windows sees the drive until the reboot.

I have tried different sata cables and ports. I have also reformatted the HD.

Any help would be great.

 

Partition drive letter disappears!

I have a new laptop with Windows 11 installed. I created a partition and assigned it the drive letter Z. Sometimes after rebooting, or after waking up the drive letter simply disappears, the partition name is there but not the letter. The partition is fine, I have to reassign the drive letter.

I created a Z partition on my old Win 10 laptop and used it for years and never lost the drive letter.

Any idea what causes this and how to fix it?

I see that other people have the same problem but there has been little response to the questions.
