Windows 10: on startup msn news page pop up covers home page 2025

I want to be able to access MSN News via the icon on the left of my taskbar. I do NOT want it to slide open automatically on startup and cover my home screen. This started to happen recently.

Stop MSN as Home Page

I found out how to do this. I have tried different versions on changing settings and home pages and discovered when you try to set a new home page, what Windows 10 does is to add the new address as a tab at the top of the page but still opens with MSN. What the sites have not said is that the MSN address is still there and is top in the list. It is an address that has the word about in it. It would not let me move that address to the bottom of the list and the only way I got my Google homepage that I wanted was to click on the X to the right of the about address and delete it. Now when I open up, my desired home page comes up and I don't have to look at MSN's bias headlines.

Appreciate your welcome and your prompt response - I have appreciated your advice on this forum in the past, especially with the registry fix for choosing where to save downloaded files from Edge!

I have checked my Edge settings, and they are as follows:

• Open Microsoft Edge with new tab page
• Open new tabs with a blank page

So I can't see any reference to MSN here... it even diverts via this URL if you click on a saved favourite site!

Glad of any further advice or suggestions please.

• When you say that "pop up on MSN home page", is the issue specific to MSN home page?
• Have you tried to check the issue with different browsers?

I suggest you to check the issues with Internet Explorer and access the website through it.

1. Click on Search bar.

2. Then type “Internet Explorer” without the quotes on Search bar and click on it.
