Windows 10: Why does my desktop turn white when I hit the Start button in Win 10?

Just bought a new PC with i7 14.7k, 32g DDR5 and GeForce 3080. Fresh install of Win 10, only things installed are Chrome, iCue for my Corsair keyboard, nVidia app, Steam and 2 games, Path of Exile and The Last Epoch. Using the latest nVidia drivers 576.02 as I write this.I notice when I am in either game, that when I hit the Windows key to access my web browser Chrome, instead of depicting my desktop in its usual state, the desktop appears all white, with the only thing visible being icons in my start menu as if I had pressed on the Start menu, and nothing happens if I click the screen.

when i push the win button and type to search for an app or anything i get this result.


i have restarted explorer.exe and completed these steps here: Cortana not finding Desktop apps when searching for them - Microsoft Community


but still nothing,

White Screen Replaces Desktop

About 4 weeks ago my Desktop started being replaced by a completely blank, white screen. This would happen sometimes after I turned on the computer. Within probably a minute of Desktop appearing, it would be replaced by the blank, white screen. I could do various things to get Desktop back, but as soon as I did something else, like click on the Start Menu button, Desktop disappeared again. Restarting the computer would solve the immediate problem, but eventually, restarting the computer (not necessarily the very next time), it would happen again.

It was suggested I try Control Panel Troubleshooting; that found nothing. Then it was suggested I use Device Manager to uninstall and reinstall the video card driver. This seemed to work, but after 6 days the problem recurred.

I restored a system image from about 6 weeks before the problem first occurred, and it still happened. Apparently it's a hardware problem, but I'm not sure.

Any bright ideas? Thanks.

 

Get button is white on white bachground, Microsoft store

Hi all, I had a thread running about being unable to add the Raw image extension from the store. After lots of store re-setting I found the "get"button was actually white on white so not visible unless you look really closely. Here is a screen shot:

Appreciate advice on how to get the button visible again. I have terminated and reset the app multiple times, logged in and out of the store and run wsreset.exe many times all from running as admin. One suggestion has been to create a different account to see if that works better. I can see other buttons in the store are also white text on white but against a grey BG, for example when looking at movies. Win 10 Pro build 19044.1466
