Windows 10: can you stop adding features like efficiency mode?

you are making my com unusable literally. it was fine until yesterday this efficiency mode kicked in and throttle everything as soon as i launched a game. everything in the background became sluggish why the **** do u do this to us for? as long as the game is playing, all else become sluggish. lets not pretend your efficiency mode is helping. it clearly isnt and its making my $6k desktop felt like its running on pentium 3. **** is going on why isnt anyone outright complaining? when game isnt launch, browsing becomes smooth, when launch it **** sluggish like 5fps.

Efficiency mode, previously known as Eco mode, in Windows 11 is designed to limit the resources an application can use to help improve energy efficiency and reduce the system's overall resource usage. However, for resource-intensive applications like AutoCAD Civil 3D, this mode can indeed cause performance issues.

Here are some steps you can take to manage Efficiency mode for your applications:

1. Power Plan Settings:
   
   • Go to 'Settings' > 'System' > 'Power & battery'.
     
   • Under 'Power mode', make sure it's set to 'Best performance'.
     
2. Graphics Settings:
   
   • Go to 'Settings' > 'System' > 'Display' > 'Graphics'.
     
   • Browse for the AutoCAD Civil 3D executable or add it if it's not listed.
     
   • Once added, click on the application and choose 'Options'.
     
   • Set the graphics preference to 'High performance'.
     
3. Registry Edit (Advanced, proceed with caution):
   
   • Press Win + R, type regedit, and press Enter to open the Registry Editor.
     
   • Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\PowerThrottling.
     
   • Here, you can create or modify a DWORD value named PowerThrottlingOff and set it to 1 to disable power throttling globally. This is not recommended as it affects the entire system and can lead to higher power consumption and heat generation.

How to disable efficiency mode in task manager? Windows efficiency mode is making apps like Google Chrome unusable.

Thanks for the response.

I tried what you suggested and disabled both settings, relaunched, and turned off efficiency mode for each sub-process it was active for.

Within 2 minutes, efficiency mode was re-activated, so your solution didn't seem to work.

I am on a desktop so I don't think the battery one would have any effect.

To stop apps from automatically going into efficiency mode on Windows 11:

1. Open Settings
   
2. Go to System > Power & battery
   
3. Click on "Battery usage"
   
4. Find your app (like Discord)
   
5. Click on it and turn off "Let Windows decide when this app can run in the background"
   

If this doesn't work, you can also try setting the app's priority to "Above normal" in Task Manager. Remember, you might need to redo these steps after major Windows updates.
