Windows 10: Laptop fan running faster after windows KB5055523 update

I have an HP ENVY laptop, with Windows11 version 24H2.The other day I downloaded and installed the latest windows updates KB5054979, KB5055523, KB5056686.After this I noticed the laptop fan is louder. Constantly running faster. Even when I'm not running anything.I uninstalled the updates one at a time, after uninstalling KB5055523, the fan speed is back to normal.Reinstalled KB5055523 and the fan speed is running loud again. So looks like this update is causing the problem. I checked the HP support website for latest drivers, it says I don't need any new software or drivers at this time. I

Fans Running when Laptop is under no load

Hello,

This issue may arise due to Video card driver incompatibility or corruption. I suggest you to reinstall Video card drivers and check if issue is resolved. Kindly follow the below given methods:

Method 1:

You may update the Display driver from Device Manager manually and check if this helps.

• Press (Windows key + X) and click on “Device Manager”.
• Expand “Display Adaptor”.
• Right click on the video driver and select “Update Driver Software”. Once this is done, restart the computer and check if the issue persists.

Method 2:

If there no updated drivers available on the computer manufacturer’s website, then try installing it in compatibility mode. Compatibility mode runs the program using settings from a previous version of Windows. Follow these steps
to install the drivers in compatibility mode and check if that helps.

• Download the driver from the manufacturer’s website.
• Right-click on the driver setup file and click on
  ‘Properties’.
• Click on the ‘Compatibility’ tab and check the box
  ‘Run this program in compatibility mode for’ and select Windows 8/8.1 operating system from the drop down menu and proceed with the installation. Once this is done, restart the computer and check if the issue persists.

Method 3:

If issue persist, I suggest you to try the following steps to run DISM scan to check and restore system file corruption:

• Open command prompt by pressing Windows key + X and selecting “Command prompt admin”.
• In command prompt, type the following commands and press Enter after each command:

• DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth
• DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealt

• Close the command prompt and restart the PC and check if it works.

Please try the following steps:

1. Clean the air vent

If your laptop is still loud or the fan is constantly running, you should also check the air vents for dust, which might clog your device. To do so, aim a can of compressed air toward your laptop's fan vents at an angle, taking care not to spray air directly inside your machine. It's also a good idea to clean your laptop's vents every 6 months as a preventative measure, ensuring dust buildup won't cause your computer to overheat.

2. Stop unnecessary programs running in the background

Laptops often run programs in the background while you're working in a different window. Those programs, as well as any windows you have open, can bog down your device. Here's how you can check to see if that's your issue:

To remove background programs for Windows:

1. Launch the Task Manager by pressing Ctrl + Alt + Delete.
   
2. Right-click the program you want to end.
   
3. Click End Task.
   

3. Update your drivers

Make sure that you have the latest drivers for your laptop's fan. You can download the drivers from the manufacturer's website.
