    Hi,I'll try and summarise my problemHow to stop files opening in Browser from Start -> Recommended :pC is running Windows 11, and has always been.I working with a lot of Excel files which are organised in different folders.The Documents folder is backed up to OneDrive.When I use the Recommended list in the Start menu to open an Excel file then in some cases Windows tries to open it in a browser. It generally fails and asks me if I want to open in desktop app and then what do I think of Excel, etc..The files in question are not shared. The only reason there's any relationship with SharePoint or OneDrive is just for back up.I haven't worked out the pattern

    Hello, thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Community. I am here to help and provide assistance with any questions or concerns you may have.

    I believe you should see recommended apps, recently used files, etc. Let's try some steps to address this problem:

    1. Open the Settings app by pressing Win + I.

    2. Navigate to Personalization on the left, and then select Start on the right.

    3. Under Layout, choose More pins to reduce the size of the Recommended section.

    4. Disable Show recently added apps.

    5. Disable Show recently opened items in Start, Jump Lists, and File Explorer. This will clear your recent items list and halt the display of recently opened items in Jump Lists and File Explorer > Home > Recent.

    6. Turn off Show websites from your browsing history.

    7. Turn off Show recommendations for tips, shortcuts, new apps, and more.

    This will clear the Recommended section in your Start menu. After you do this, restart your computer, and follow the steps again to enable everything again.

    opening .dds files with gimp

    Simply, HOW? I got the DDS plugin but the POS wont open DDS files still. Can someone give me a step-by-step rundown of how to install the DDS plugin for gimp so I know if I'm missing something?
