Windows 10: Hibernate no longer available

I used to have a hibernate mode in control setting but now it no longer appears in settings only power and sleep appears, then I tried using cmd then runned it as administrator then typed powercfg /hibernate on and this is the result I got from cmd Hibernation failed with the following error: The request is not supported. The following items are preventing hibernation on this system. An internal system component has disabled hibernation. Hypervisorwhat should I do with this matter?

Missing hibernate button

We would like to isolate this issue that you're having right now. Will you be able to provide the exact error message that you recieved?

We suggest that you try to enable hibernation on your device using the Command Prompt.

To make hibernation available, follow these steps:

• Click Start, and then type cmd in the Start Search box.
• In the search results list, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as Administrator.
• When you are prompted by User Account Control, click Continue.
• At the command prompt, type powercfg.exe /hibernate on, and then press Enter.
• Type exit, and then press Enter to close the Command Prompt window.

Laptop no longer hibernates on critical power

Hi Mike,

The laptop's battery is possibly wearing out. Since you haven't change any settings, we suggest that you change the critical battery level a bit higher so that your laptop can perform a hibernation on a much higher percentage than the default. Follow the
steps below:

• Type Power Options on the Start menu search bar.
• Under Battery, click on Critical battery level.
• Chang the default percentage to 10% or higher.
• Click on Apply.

Hibernate no longer working for desktop PC

I always disable Fast start. It makes it harder to interrupt start from shutdown [Bios & Boot menu keys only work when the maker's logo is onscreen]. I appreciate that it makes no difference to restart. I'm amazed that I have not suggested re-installing your display driver - not just check for an update, re-install. In Windows 7 it was the standard first step when there was a sleep/hibernate problem. I should also suggest testing in a different user account [even if you have to make one for the test] in case it is some strange corruption in your current user account. Denis
