After installing a new NVMe M.2 SSD, formatting my HD, and installing windows, some problems begun to occur.Note: I used an autoattend.xml file in my installation USB that is preset to debloat windows 10, I don't exactly remember where I created it, but I remember going through an official windows setup form.File link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1y_i6flsjxu8dJN1aTcksHQVAuC7JzoyB/view?usp=sharingAt first I thought it had something to do with the RAM sticks, the PC didn't startup properly after I turned it off for the first time after installing windows. Windows Vista Startup Problem ( Dual Boot)

I've got a dual boot set up on my computer, with Windows XP Professional 32bit & Vista Ultimate 64bit.

I haven't booted into Vista for quite some time now because I get better performance from XP. But now, if I try to boot into Vista, it goes through until after the Welcome screen & just gets stuck on a black screen with the pointer showing.

I have tried repairing the startup using the Vista CD.

    Any suggestions?

  3. startup repair failed after update window10

    Hi,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community and being a part of Windows 10.

I understand the inconvenience you are facing in accessing the operating system after installing the updates. Do not worry we will help you with this issue.

As a workaround I suggest you to unplug all the external devices connected to your computer, hard reboot the device and check with the status of this issue.

If the issue still persists, try the below troubleshooting steps as the boot files of current operating system might got corrupted.

I suggest you to download Windows 10 ISO file, create an installation media from other working computer to perform automatic/startup repair of the computer that you are unable to boot.

Using ISO file to perform automatic/startup repair will allow the device to boot the system to Windows Recovery Environment and tries to repair the device.

    Step 1: Download
Windows 10 from the below link and create media creation tool:

Installing Windows 10 using the media creation tool

Step 2: After creating the tool perform an Startup Repair.

I would like to inform that, if your Windows 10 is not able to boot or startup, Startup Repair will come into action and try to diagnose and fix the issue. It will scan system files, registry settings, configuration settings and
more and try to fix the problem on its own, automatically.

    Perform the Startup repair:

    • When your computer starts, wait for the manufacturer logo to check the option for boot menu, it will usually be
      F12.
    • The boot menu key might differ with each manufacturer. If you are unable to find the boot menu key, you may refer the user manual.
    • Restart the computer, when the manufacturer's logo is displayed, keep pressing the
Boot menu option key to enter the boot menu and change the boot option to
      CD\DVD ROM.
    • After you boot your computer using Windows 10 DVD, a black screen appears with gray text "Press any key to boot from CD or DVD". Press any key.
    • Select the correct time and Keyboard type.
    • Click Repair your computer in the lower left corner
    • Click on Troubleshooting, advanced option and then click
      Startup repair.

Hope it helps. Kindly update the status of the issue, we will be happy to help you.

Desktop Computer Is only able to boot into windows through startup repair menu.

Computer only boots into Startup Repair, then fails

    Efureie,

I wouldn't waste any time with making DVD installation media....but it's your decision. I don't think it will make any difference.

Since you cannot boot to the desktop, all you have are the Advanced Startup options.

In my first post to you, I suggested booting from USB installation media and in the second screen that comes up, choosing
Repair your computer. This is what I wrote back then and
I still advise doing the same because everything else has failed for you so far. I said then,

"I would further explore the Advanced Startup Options menu (ASO)..... but this time with one big difference.

Boot from the USB installation media that you said you made. You are not going to lose anything by booting from this media if you choose "Repair your computer" in the second
    screen bottom left that opens.

Many computers have a boot menu key that is tapped continuously during the boot process. This triggers the boot options menu.....you would then choose to boot to the USB installation media.

In the second screen that opens, shown above,

at the bottom left corner is "Repair your computer" option. Select this...it will take you back into the ASO menu......but this time you have booted installation media plugged into a port and this should make a difference
with choices available there. The options work better when installation media was booted from!

You have previously worked through these options earlier, but you must do it again because you booted from the installation media, and
that makes a difference in functionality of the options. Try options in this order.

    1. Reset....keep files but lose apps

    2. System Restore Points

    3. Startup Repair

Advanced Startup Options menu can work better with installation media connected and booted from.

    Regards,

    Wayne
