Windows 10: When I click on a link in an email it opens Microsoft Edge instead of my default browser....

When I click on a link in an email it opens in Microsoft Edge rather than my default browser takes Forever. Why? How do I stop this?

Stop edge from opening links and use default browser

I have a different browser and my pdf creator set as defaults for the above respectively. This is happening in apps such as, TubiTv which does not give you any settings to change it and most links on any of the pages in windows 10 settings. Any link such as emails and accounts, help from the web, opens up edge instead of my default browser.

 

Links from discord and facebook messenger open opera not edge. Edge is my default browser.

To ensure that all links from apps like Discord and Facebook Messenger open in Microsoft Edge, you can follow these steps:



1. Open the Windows Settings by pressing `Win + I` on your keyboard.

2. Navigate to Apps and then to Default apps.

3. Scroll down and click on Choose default apps by protocol.

4. Locate MICROSOFT-EDGE in the list and click on the program icon to the right of it.

5. From the list, select Microsoft Edge to set it as the default for the protocol.

6. Confirm the change if prompted.



After doing this, links from Discord, Facebook Messenger, and other apps should open in Microsoft Edge by default. If you encounter any issues, make sure that Microsoft Edge is also set as the default browser for HTTP and HTTPS protocols in the same Default apps settings. If the problem persists, you might want to check if there are any specific settings within those apps that determine link handling, which might need to be adjusted as well.
