Windows 10: Main Account Unlocks with Local Account Password – Security Concern

I have two accounts on my Windows PC. The primary one, let’s call it "X," is linked to my Microsoft Account and requires a PIN to log in. The second one, a local account I’ll call "Y," isn’t connected to anything and is used for miscellaneous purposes, requiring a password to log in.Recently, I noticed something odd. When signing into account X, I see an "Other sign-in options" link below the PIN entry field. Clicking it reveals two choices: entering a PIN or a password. To my surprise, I can unlock account X using the password for account Y. This is a serious concern because I’m not the only

Local Account password changed to Online Account Password

Hi,

I suggest you to follow the steps on how to switch from Microsoft account to Local account:

• Click on search in taskbar and type account.
• Click on Accounts.
• Now, under Your account, click on Sign in with Local account instead.
• Enter your Microsoft account password for confirmation and then follow the screen instruction.
• Enter User name credentials for your the Local account and click OK.
• Now, login to Local account.

you know when you boot up your computer... and yeha i have more than one account and I forgot the password to one of them.

is there anyway for me to get in to the account? or the account will be perminant lock if i dont remember password?

Local account installation question

I'm fairly certain that Skip this step was available in 10.0.130 - the workaround in Step 20 (back button) is no longer required.

The currently known, as of 10.0.130, ways to create a Local account sign-in are

• Skip this step at the MS account creation phase
• No Internet connection during the install
• static IP (post# 2 by Fragment) - New (to me anyway)
