desktop icons don't align to the grid properly leaving a space in between.the solution it to right click desktop->view->auto arrange icons + align icons to grid.your welcome!

I have done the steps as you directed but it didn't solve the problem, but unfortunately i cut and pasted to other folder and repasted to the desktop, the files actually started to show in the desktop folder.

Also, the blank space persistency has not been resolved.

Thanks for the update. Since cutting and pasting the desktop icons temporarily resolved the blank space issue, it sounds like the icon positions are getting corrupted or out of sync somehow. One more thing to try:

Let’s try performing an in-place install or in-place upgrade which will refresh your Windows files and operating system without removing files or applications. That being said, we always recommend that if you have important data, you should back it up before making large system changes. If you want to back up your data first, please do so. This definitely seems to be some kind of corruption of the system files or the registry. Let me know if the above helps solve the persistent blank space problem for good!

Issue with Persistent Blank Space Among Desktop Icons

Hello Microsoft Community,

I'm encountering a perplexing problem with my desktop icons. Regardless of how I sort the items, a persistent blank space always remains on the desktop. This issue has been persistent, and I'm uncertain about its origin.

To provide clarity, I've attached a screenshot where I've marked the area where the blank space appears. Interestingly, while there are 48 shortcuts on my desktop, only 19 items are visible within the desktop folder in the file manager.

I'm reaching out to the community in hopes of finding a solution or insight into this issue. Any assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
