Windows 10: "Mouse without borders" does not automatically establish connection between the two...

Two Win11 machines Surface Book2 and Surface Studio connected over wired LAN. The problem I see is that when the target machine wakes up from sleep and is connected to the net and running fine, the mouse from the local machine still won't move to the target machine until I run the app i.e. bring up its UI on the local machine. Then it automatically connects and the mouse can then move to the target machine. This is a new problem. It used to work.
