Windows 10: Need help with changing the used camera.

I have a Probook and I need to access the front-facing webcam. I can use the camera in the bottom left-hand corner of my keyboard, but there appears to be a regular camera above my screen and I can't figure out how to access it. I also do not have the option to swap the camera on the camera app like some people say there should be. Help would be greatly appreciated.

Issues with using Camera on Windows 10 and getting black view while using the Camera.

I realize the inconvenience you are experiencing with Windows 10. I will certainly help you.



This issue might occur if Camera driver is corrupt.



To assist you better, please provided us the information below:

• How exactly are you opening the Camera on the computer?
• Are you using default Camera app or other camera app?

I suggest you to follow the method below to open Camera app in the computer and update the Camera driver in the Device Manager.

Step 1: I recommend you to open the Camera through default Camera app and check if it helps.

1. Click on Search bar.

2. Then type "Camera" without the quotes in the search bar and click on it.

3. Check if you are able to use the Camera.

Step 2: I suggest you to update the Camera driver and check if it helps.

1. Press Windows Key + R Key.

2. Then type “devmgmt.msc” without the quotes and hit on
Enter Key.

3. Expand Imaging Devices.

4. Right click on the Camera driver and click on Update Driver Software.

device driver not installed or out of date or the installed driver failed.
In order to get clarity and to assist you accordingly, please reply with the answers to the questions below:

• What is the model number of the Lenovo Desktop?
  
• Is Lenovo Vantage utility app installed on the PC?
  

• Are you aware of any changes on the PC prior to this issue?

Let us try few steps.

Step 1: Check Camera Settings.

1. Press Windows + I key to open Windows Settings.
   
2. Click on Privacy and select Camera from the left pane.
   
3. Click on Change check if it is toggled to On.
   
4. Also toggle the switch to On under Allow apps to access your camera
   

Step 2:Update Webcam driver.

We would suggest you to update the Webcam driver from Device Manager. Please refer this article to update the driver:
