Windows 10: OneNote for Windows 10 "Saved offline error" cant sync. Probable OneDrive deletions.

I have a OneNote for Windows 10 session ruinning but it says "Saved offline error". All the data is there but I cant sync. I think I deleted too much yesterday when I get a message saying I was using too much storage in OneDrive. All the data is there in OneNote, but I need a way to re-create the OneDrive sync.

Sync error in OneNote for Windows 10

I have lost access to sync my notebook. The reason is accidental delete of something on OneDrive where it was saved earlier. I am able to see the notebook on my laptop, but not able to sync on others and not able to copy it. Does anybody know how to export
the notebook from OneNote for Windows 10? Or have experienced something similar before?

Saved offline (error) message:

"We can't access this section file or the attached file because the file was moved, the file name is invalid, or the file permissions have been changed. (Error code: 0x2 bdf5f)"

 

How does Windows 10 conversion setup offline OneDrive files by default


When I migrate to Windows 10,

• Placeholders will be deleted from my local OneDrive folder.
• Per folder selective sync will be available.

But that leaves a question…

• Will per folder selective sync be turned OFF by default at conversion?
  • This means offline files on the local OneDrive folder will be orphaned.
  • Therefore, to avoid confusion, I’d need to either (a) delete them since they’re available online and since sync is off, or (b) turn on selective sync for the folder they’re in and sync all files in the folder, or (c) do nothing if OneDrive automatically deleted them in the conversion.

• Or, will per folder selective sync be turned ON by default for folders that have offline files in them, syncing all files in such a folder?

• Or, will OneDrive try to sync all folders to my local OneDrive, overwhelming the smaller drive on my laptop?

It seems to me this would be important to know, but I've not been able to find anything on it.

 

OneNote won't back up to OneDrive

I've been using Microsoft OneNote and OneDrive for a few years now. When I had all Windows 10 PCs, I had no problem getting OneNote to sync with OneDrive automatically, while I manually copied all of my other files.

However, since I've upgraded to Windows 11 PCs, all of my files started uploading to OneDrive automatically, causing the drive to max out. I figured out how to stop the automatic syncing (presumably) and then proceeded to delete those files I did not want in OneDrive (although this deleted some of my files from my desktop on one of my PCs in the process). Unfortunately, this caused OneNote to stop automatically syncing. Now, I keep getting a "Saved offline (error)" message.

Therefore, does anyone know how to get OneNote to automatically sync to OneDrive in Windows 11, while simultaneously allowing me to only copy all of my other files manually?
