Windows 10: i need help my ssd is not showing up in the file manager

Previouslyim was looking forward to update my old computers operating system it was loaded with windows 10 idk why. but because of old hardware it was slow so i wanted to install a lighter OS but i could be able to install because the ssd was unable to format i think it is because it got into some protection or restriction help meERRORWrite Sector Error! Disk: HD1:SSD119 GB From Sector: 39 92. 128 Sectors Total. Err:5 Access is denied.

SSD showing up as HDD in device manager

Hi,

I just installed a Samsung SSD 2TB drive. I already have two 2TB and 1TB SSD drives and one old Western Digital 2TB disk drive insatlled. My new SSD drive is working properly. I was able to format it and move files to it, but it shows up as a Western
Digital hard drive in Device Manager. My new drive is listed properly in the BIOS as an SSD drive. Is there any way to fix this? Thanks.

SSD Not showing in Device Manager after OS Reinstall

I've gone through the steps.

1. In DIsk management, no uninitialized disk showed up.

2,3,4 Not applicable since it doesnt show up in disk management.

Also, Minitool partition wizard doesn't see the SSD either, probably because the BIOS doesn't recognize the SSD (the drive type shows None).

5. Drive doesnt show up in Minitool so not doable.

6. The SSD is enabled in the BIOS. I've tried disabling then re-enabling.

As for updating the drivers, I've updated the IDE ATA/ATAPI controller drivers, and also tried Intel's SSD Toolkit to see drivers, but nothing found that's related to SSD.

The final step using seaTools says it doesnt test SATA.

It sounds like you've already done a lot of troubleshooting, but there are a few more things you can try.

First, make sure that the PCIe SSD is properly seated in the slot. Sometimes a loose connection can cause it to be recognized in the BIOS but not in Windows.

Next, try checking if the drive is recognized in Device Manager (You can search it in Windows search bar). If it's listed there, you may need to assign a drive letter to it in Disk Management. If that doesn't work, you can try updating the firmware on the SSD. Crucial may have a firmware update available that could help resolve compatibility issues.

If none of these steps work, it might be worth reaching out to Crucial support when they're available again. It's possible that they may have additional troubleshooting steps or a replacement drive if yours is defective.
