How to get the taskbar to show more rows under windows 11? Reg Edit did not solve this

Hello, I need to display the taskbar in at least two rows, so I can have a good overview over all my open windows. It is normal for me, to have 20 to 30 things open at the same time in a normal work day. In order to switch quickly between all of those things I simply dragged the taskbar to display two rows and that was that. Unfortunately, now I have Windows 11 and my stuff regularly gets relegated to the overflow, significantly slowing my daily work down. So far, I found an edit to the registry but that did not work... I agree as I have the same issue. My Windows 10 workflow usually has 10-15 windows open and ungrouped so I can see the labels/names. So, it is a very important feature for me to have the ability to increase the taskbar height so it shows double or two rows of taskbar items. With windows 11 I lose both the ability to ungroup and to increase the taskbar height to have more rows for windows. This is a feature since Windows 98 and sadly a loss of productivity that will keep me from upgrading to Windows 11.

How to increase taskbar to 2 or more rows in Windows 11

The Windows 11 taskbar does not have enough room for everything I want to put on it. From Windows 95 to Windows 10, I've always been able to "drag" the taskbar to add another level. With Windows 11, I (apparently) can not. Because of this, I have actually wiped Windows 11 and reinstalled windows 10, all my applications, and all my data and document files. It was a pain in the bottom, but well worth it to me.

I'm sure that there must be a workaround for this, possibly a registry change or addition, but I cannot find it. In the mean time, I'm hoping that a way to do this is added to the OS. Frankly, I'd rather use Windows 11 than Windows 10, but until the extra taskbar space is regained, I will not.

Has somebody found a way to do this in the present form of Windows 11? Is Microsoft going to return the multiple row taskbar to Windows 11 soon? Or have they decided that one row is enough for most people and ignore those of us that find a multiple row taskbar a great saver of time and effort?

Multi row taskbar settings are lost on reboot (explorer restart.)

    Hi Matt,

The settings that you’ve made with the taskbar may haven’t retained due to software conflicts or an application is possibly causing the issue when you’ve set the multi-row in the taskbar. To learn more about your concern, we’d like to ask the questions
    below:

    • Which Windows version and build is installed on your computer? To get this information, type
      winver in the search box.
    • Are you using any third-party applications that are pinned on your taskbar?

In the meantime, try to lock the taskbar after making the changes. Right-click the taskbar and select
Lock all taskbar. Then, restart your computer and check if you'll see still see the multi-row. Please refer to the screenshot below:

We can also isolate this behavior by performing a clean boot. This will help us identify if there are applications that may cause the issue to change it from the default settings. Click
here for the steps. Once you’re in the clean boot state, try
to personalize the taskbar and restart your PC. Then, verify if the it will have the same result.

Let us know how it goes after performing the suggested steps.
