Windows 10: Trying to save files from an expansion drive

My personal notebook crashed during a windows update to a point where none of the Windows recovering tools work* so I'll fatally have to reinstall Windows from a boot drive. This installation is on the main SSD, but there is an expansion one where I keep most of my files, partitioned to another location. Is there a chance to save those files when initializing it on the formatted version of Windows? Or will they be gone by the time I try to reinstall the OS?* I really tried all the alternatives and the further I could reach was Windows trying to boot but giving me a pitch black screen where I c

Cannot save files to network drives anymore

• Which account was used to sign in to Office, when the user attempted to save files to the mapped drive?
  

This could be due to the incorrect user information used. You may want to try the steps listed below and check if it works for you:

• Open Word 2016, and navigate to
  File > Account.
  
• Sign out of all the accounts under User Information.
  
• Restart Office, navigate to
  File > Account.
  
• Sign In to use the work email for user information.
  
• Now, try saving the Office documents to the mapped drive.

Expansion of files on copying

I have a 5TB disk E: which was just about full of archive images.

So I bought an 8TB disk H: and copied ca 4.3TB from E to H:

But according to H properties, there are now 5.93TB stored on it.

The copying process has added double arrows, i.e. apparently compressing the files.

According to the folder listings, the file sizes on the E and H are identical, as are the folder sizes

Can you suggest how the expansion occurred and can be reversed?

Seagate Expansion+

I have an issue with trying to save files onto my Seagate Expansion+ external hard drive. When I try and save a file onto the drive; I receive a write-protected notice. How do I remove the write-protection from the herd drive? Any help would be appreciated.
