Windows 10: I have authenticator app linked to my school account.

I have authenticator app linked to my school account. However, when I sign in then during the verification. I would not receive any notification. But in personal account it would work. Please help

Authenticator Problem. School Account. Is there a way to reset it?

A year ago, I set up my authenticator app with my school. A few months ago, I got a new phone, and the last one was wiped to be passed down to the next sibling. For the past few months, I have had a problem with accessing the school account on the authenticator. It has a big red "!" and tells me to scan the QR code provided by the school. Unfortunately, the school has updated their website since I set it up and I cannot find that QR code anywhere. So, I reached out to the school's IT.

Here is the conversation:

Me: So I set up my authenticator over a year now and when I got a new phone is has been asking me to scan the QR code provided by my organization, but I cannot find it for the life of me. Do you know where I can find it or do I have to re-set it up? If so, how?

I.T.: I think so, is there a course that is needing you to use the authenticator? I think usually just faculty have to

Me: No. Not at the moment. It has just been bothering me that I can't set up the authenticator on my phone anymore and it constantly has a big red "!" anytime I open the app

I.T.: Oh okay, we can try to set it up again and see, can you try to click this link? My Sign-Ins This sends you to Microsoft's authenticator settings

Me: It asked me to open my authenticator app and select a number. Unfortunately, since my app is not linked, I cannot. The only other option is a verification code, from the app. [Image of "I can't use my Microsoft Authenticator app right now" tab for identification request].

I.T.: I see, we may need to go into the app and remove and re-add your SNHU account to link it again

Me: Got it. One second while I sign out. Ok. I signed back in. It asked me for a code from Authenticator.

I.T.: But the app isn't giving you one?

Me: No. The app gave me the same response the link did.

• Then I.T. tried to see if they could send me a temporary code, but it only allows the I.T. department to do it for teachers.
  
• We then double-checked my old phone just to make sure, but since it had been wiped, there was no data left on it.
  
• Then we followed the steps of Change your two-step verification method and settings - Microsoft Support but received the same response to sign in with Authenticator.
  

Devices used and system information:

Phone - iPhone 12. iOS 16.4 (but has not been working with previous iOS versions either)

Microsoft Authenticator app - Version 6.7.9 (*up to date*)

Computer - HP Pavilion Desktop. Windows 11 (*up to date*)

~ Note: I can log into the account for Office 365 and Outlook with no problem, but as soon as I try to access almost anything from my account or any security information, I receive verification, rightfully so, but cannot move forward since it is no longer connected. ~

Is there a way to reset it completely?

Can't Setup The Authentication App

It looks like you signed in your account instead of using the QR code when you added. I'd suggest removing the account first by tapping on the email address then the settings icon and Remove button.

To re-add the email address, I suggest following the steps in the "Sign in with a QR code" section in the link below. Also, make sure that the app is allowed to use camera in your phone's app permission.
