Windows 10: Folders in ONE DRIVE will not optimize for pictures. Preview not available

Three weeks ago I re synced the one drive folders on my PC and all of a sudden the folders WITHIN one drive ONLY stopped showing the image previews. After speaking with multiple reps who were unable to assist, I came onto my own solution to right click on the folder, select properties - customize - optimize this folder for pictures - The problem is this works for one folder at a time and resets on startup. There is also an option available to run this for all the sub folders but for some reason it never works even when I check the box. I am running windows 10. Other things I have tried : refr

I suggest you to start the Optimize drives Service and check if it helps.

Follow the below steps:

• Press Windows key + R from the Keyboard.
• Type services.msc and hit Enter.
• Search for Optimize drives Service.
• Double click on Optimize drives Service and click on
  Start button.
• Click on the dropdown list and set the Startup type to Automatic.

Quick Access not searching Pictures folder

Summary, that last suggestion didn't work.

• I moved the pictures to another folder temporarily.

• Then I tried to remove the Pictures folder with option one at Add or Remove Folders from This PC in Windows 10 | Windows 10 Tutorials. Even after rebooting, the Pictures folder remained.
• So I tried using option two. Same thing: reboot >> Pictures folder still there.

• Since there were no troubleshooting steps for this scenario, just for the heck of it, I ran through the restore steps. Copied some pictures into the Pictures folder, ran a Quick Access search and initial problem remains: Searching all of QA doesn't find any files in Pictures folder, running search on just the Pictures folder does. I want to run a global search and find matching files in any/all of the Documents, Music, Videos, and Pictures folders.

That article dates from 2015 and I'm guessing is out of date. I hope it didn't create potential future problems in my registry.

Bottom line: I'm still looking for a fix.

 

Preview pane is not available while viewing the pictures

If the preview pane doesn’t appear, I suggest you to follow the steps and check if that helps to resolve the issue.

  Open the folder where the images are located.

  Click on View option at the top and choose

  Now you will be able to see the images on the Preview pane.
