Windows 10: Solution: Can't Eject USB Drive External Hard Drive Windows 11

I have been extremely frustrated the past few months since getting a new computer running Windows 11 Pro. I frequently use external USB hard drives. 95% of the time when I try to safely disconnect I get the error message that Windows cannot stop the device because a program is still using it. I've tried many solutions I've read online like disabling indexing, Drivers, searching background processes, Process Explorer, Resource Moniter etal. Nothing worked. That is until I stumbled upon the solution note I did not find this anywhere online. All of my external drives were formatted NTFS. I

Windows 10 Eject Button Missing for external hard drive

Why would, of all things, the eject button of a mounted external hard drive go missing? That's a Windows operating system for you. I'm using Explorer and right-clicking over the drive letter - but, no listing for ejecting the drive. Anyway, before I just rip out the USB cable of my external hard drive - is there a reasonable solution (that's under 25 nebulous steps) to just EJECT a freakin' hard drive plugged into Windows 10? Is it really necessary for every little thing in Windows to turn into a complicated procedure?

But, the option to format the external drive is in the menu.

 

Can't eject my external hard drive

Hi , I just bought a new computer and I found a weird error . It has windows 11 pro install and I have the latest version .

I have a lot of usb port , and two in the front . One work but the other can't eject my external hard drive . Let me explain . On the second usb port , it work perfectly but I don't have ANY option to eject the hard drive . The icon in the taskbar , the eject option in the window of the hard drive , right click on the name of the HDD , even in the creation of drive , there are not eject option !!!!! But on the other port it work . Also I have this error only with External Hard drive , when I plug an usb , I have an eject option when the usb open in a new window on the topbar .

This error drive me crazy and I hope you will be able to help me .
