please insert a disc into the usb drive

    Hi,

It seems that your USB is having an issue. We suggest running Check Disk to find and repair errors in the USB drive. To do so, please follow the steps below:

    • Press Windows key + X and then select Command Prompt (Admin).
    • Copy and paste chkdsk E: /f, then hit Enter.

Please use chkdsk E: command to check the integrity of your USB drive.

Note: Change "E:" to the USB drive letter you're using.

    Let us know the result.

HOW TO FIX - "Please insert a disc into USB Drive (DHOW TO FIX - "Please insert a disc into USB Drive D:." :)."

HOW TO FIX -16GB USB SANDISK WHEN INSERTED INTO ANY USB PORT IN ANY COMPUTER RETURNS "Please insert a disc into USB Drive (DHOW TO FIX - "Please insert a disc into USB Drive D:." :)." - "Cancel "

I press "Cancel" and the notice disappears.

When I look at the Folder for "Explorer" on the Taskbar

I can clearly see "Windows (CHOW TO FIX - "Please insert a disc into USB Drive D:." :) " and " USB Drive (DHOW TO FIX - "Please insert a disc into USB Drive D:." :) "

When I click on thew D drive icon again the previous message above appears again.

The problem started when I was attempting to download a rescue disk that is used when Windows 11 is unable to load or open for any reason so that an attempt to repair this edition can restart correctly.

The routine I followed carefully was as is described in SETTINGS > SYSTEM > RECOVERY > Creating a recovery drive

Sadly some kind backroom person has altered the instruction now to read

" To create a recovery drive in Windows 11:

    1. In the search box on the task bar, search for Create a recovery drive and then select it. You might be asked to enter an admin password or confirm your choice."

I copied the above phrase and then followed instructions and pasted it in the search box & pressed ENTER

This results in a temporary blank screen, then a pop up smaller screen to take the unsuspecting watcher to an "automatic" procedure showing

    " <-Recovery Drive

    Create a recovery drive

Even if your PC can't start you can use a recovery drive to reset it or troubleshoot problems. If

you back up system file to this drive, you'll also be able to reinstate Windows"

(Then a few blank lines under which is a blue ticked box with the comment beside it reading )

"Back up system files to the recovery drive"

At the bottom of the white box in a Grey line which contains in 2 white boxes the "Next" and "Cancel"

    I pressed Next

The screens went blank and the process started to create a back up for the USB drive.

NB at NO TIME in the display did any screens describe what size of USB stick was to be used or WHEN to aforementioned USB device was to be attached to the USB port.

The result "seemed" to be working so I took the precaution of attaching the USB stick to a port and waited.

Eventually after about 2 hours of watching a blank screen I decided rightly or wrongly that enough was enough and pressed the CANCEL BUTTON which had suddenly appeared.

Nothing happened. No challenge NADA. NIL,

Thinking that the whole experience was a complete waste of time and expensive power I gave up and switched the computer off and went to do something more constructive

like breaking stones with a wooden mallet. -

An equally frustrating experience as that too was a fruitless exercise.

I "seemed" to have confounded the problem more as I looked on the "web" for another "possible" solution to reinstating the apparent USB Scandisk.

I came across a "seemingly" useful product on a website Recoverit by Wondershare and carefully read the "promises" that they claimed their product would do.

All seemed OK and I downloaded it. My Antivirus product automatically examined it and gave it its blessing so I allowed it to scan the aforementioned USB stick

The programme did what it said it would do and discovered that there was indeed a whole bucket full of data that it was able to recover.

I pressed the RECOVER button on the report to see what would happen next and immediately was presented with the option to

PURCHASE THE PRODUCT FOR A YEARS FEE OF $90+

together with a choice of methods to pay.

There was no way I was going to pay that fee for what I thought to be a trial programme or divulging any banking data to an unknown company so I then looked for a way of closing the popup.

There is NO X box on the top right side of the display.

There is NO way of closing the box that had suddenly appeared on the screen as it blocks out the middle of the screen - even when you hit the x in the corner of the main screen nothing happens

The only way is to turn off the computer at the mains and put up with the backlog of problems that then present themselves to you when you restart the computer.

    SO BE AWARE.

Incidentally once on your computer there is a boat load of additional problems awaiting you to try to get rid of the above programme after you have mistakenly read all the claims made on the website.

That is another story for another time (perhaps).

Having made fun of the whole experience I wonder if anyone else has had a similar experience and can come up with a realistic solution on how to salvage a USB SCANDISK that now refuses to be recognised as having any data on it and saving that data without costing an arm & a leg.

    Thanks,

    Kind regards,

    Jim

HOW TO FIX - "Please insert a disc into USB Drive D:."

please insert a disc into the usb drive

So my USB was working completely fine, then I found a corrupted file. I had an exact copy of the file, so I thought it was weird but decided to look at it later. 10 minutes later and I'm trying to save my work to the USB but it's saying "please insert a
disc into the usb drive". I have been searching and trying things for ages, including the discussion Redirecting,
however nothing has helped. When I tried to change Drive Letter and Paths the option was in grey, and inaccessible. Please help if you can, I use this USB daily and have so much work on here.
