Windows 10: Pc keeps crashing but the power stays on

For a while now, my pc has had this problem where if i’m doing anything from gaming to just browsing it’ll crash after some time and force me restart it. When it crashes, the monitor stays on and all of my peripherals and the pc stay powered on, but the screen stays frozen and i can’t do anything forcing me to restart. I’ve tried updating my drivers, i set my cores on windows to 12, i have 16 gb of ram Core i5 12400k and radeon 6500 650 W psu.

Computer will randomly crash without a BSOD or Error and stays powered

Did that stuff with DDU step by step and had another crash just now while playing a game.

Saw a return of previous errors in the Event Manager.

• 1 instance of Critical: "Kernel-Power"
  
• 2 instances of Error: "Application Error", "Faulting application name: dwm.exe"
  
• 1 instance of Error: "EventLog"
  
• 1 instance of Warning: "Dwminit", "The Desktop Window Manager process has exited. (Process exit code: 0xe0464645, Restart count: 1, Primary display device ID: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080)"
  

 

PC Keeps Crashing when under heavy load

Ok in that case there are no logs created in your system after the crash so I suggest you follow the below fix to resolve the system crashing issue.

Step 1:

Go to search box next to windows icon and type Edit Power Plan

Step 2:

Then click on Change advanced power settings

Step 3:

Expand Harddisk and then expand Turn off hard disk after

Step 4:

Set value for On battery and Plugged into 0 (Zero)

Step 5:

Click/tap on Apply and then press OK.

Step 6:

Restart the PC

Let me know the status after performing the above and if in case it doesn't solve the issue will provide you with further fixes.

I suggest you run rthdribl > http://www.daionet.gr.jp/~masa/archives/rthdribl_1_2.zip
Increase the window size step by step and watch your vga temps permanently.
What happens?
If it crashes, run at stock speeds as suggested before and retry.

P.S.: When your system locks, does the display signal turn off after a time?
Stuttering sound or no sound at all when freezing?
What X1800XT model do you own exactly?
