How to use Scandisk on Windows 10?

Hi,

I suggest you to follow the steps below to run Scandisk.

• Press Windows key + E on your keyboard to open File Explorer.
• In the File Explorer window, click on This PC in the left navigation pane.
• A list of drives is displayed on the right side of the window. Right-click on the drive you want to run Scandisk on and select
  Properties.
• In the Properties window, click on the Tools tab.
• Click the Check button in the Error Checking section.
• The computer needs to restart to run Scandisk without any interruptions.

ScanDisk not finishing from Windows environment.

I'm looking at Computer Management and 3 partitions on my 2nd hard drive have not been unlocked yet at hour 30 of the ScanDisk. They are a 499 MB Recovery Partition (Healthy), a 100 MB EFI System Partition (Healthy), and an 855 MB Recovery Partition (Healthy).
All 3 are listed with 100% Free Space, so if there was anything there, it's either inaccessible (locked during ScanDisk), or wiped (meaning I'll have to reinstall Windows 10 from scratch).

• Make sure the scandisk is securely plugged into your computer’s USB port and that it shows up in File Explorer. If not, you may need to use a different USB port or cable, or check the device manager for any errors or updates. If possible, try to see if the ScanDisk works fine on a different computer.
  
• Check the available space and the health of the scandisk using the properties option in File Explorer. If the scandisk is full, you may need to delete some files or transfer them to another storage device. If the scandisk is corrupted, you may need to format it or use a data recovery software to retrieve your files. However, formatting will erase all the data on the scandisk, so make sure you have a backup before doing so.
  
• Check the format and the size of the photos on the scandisk using the details option in File Explorer. If the photos are in an uncommon format, such as RAW or HEIC, you may need to convert them to a more compatible format, such as JPEG or PNG, using a photo editing software. If the photos are too large, you may need to resize them or change their quality settings using a photo editing software.
  
• Check the settings and the performance of your photo app. Make sure you have selected the correct source for importing photos, such as This PC > Scandisk. Also, make sure you have enough space and memory on your computer to run the photo app smoothly. You may need to close some other programs or restart your computer if it is slow or unresponsive. You may also need to update or reinstall your photo app if it is outdated or corrupted.

Open Windows File Explorer (folder icon on your Taskbar)

On the left, click ‘This PC’

On the right, double-click your SD Card or the DCIM folder (whichever shows up)

Then simply select the files you want to transfer and drag them into the Pictures folder in the left pane of File Explorer.
