  1. Windows 11 is slow even in Safe Mode, even after formatting, fresh install and updating

My cousin bought Mi Notebook 14. It has i5-10210U, 8GB 2666MHz DDR4 RAM, SATA3 SSD by Kingston. Recently it got very slow. The task manager kept showing less than 20% CPU utilization. Also, less memory usage. Still the performance is noticeably slow. Each click / UI interaction was laggy. Opening a folder in file explorer, opening a new tab in file explorer / Microsoft Edge, opening paint, everything shows a processing ring at least for a second and two before completing. I have installed Windows 11 Single Language Update 23H2, but was of no help. I updated it to latest update 24H2

KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED on fresh install. Safe mode works fine.

    Version 2004 (OS Build 19041.508)Attachment 297834
    Error: KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED
This is a fresh install of windows. The only thing that has been installed is the video card driver & software.

Note: I can only run windows in normal mode for a couple minutes before I get BSOD. The included log .zip file is while I am in safe mode. I DO NOT GET BSOD IN SAFE MODE.

    Things I have already tried:
    • Uninstalling then updating my video card drivers.
    • Clean boot.
    • Removing any unnecessary hardware e.g. web cam, card reader
I still hit the same error every time. Sometimes the BSOD comes in a few seconds, other times I can use my PC for up to 10 minutes before getting it. Usually it is sometime in 3-5 minutes after logging into Windows.
Originally I was getting this BSOD error and in my troubleshooting I made things worse to the point my drive would not launch windows and all repair attempts failed. So I gave up and used my other hard drive and did a fresh install of Windows. I am getting the same error that I was before, KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED.

I have done various troubleshooting steps but am willing to start from scratch to narrow down if this is hardware and if so what piece of hardware.

For context here is some of the programs I have tried and the summarized outcome:
    • Driver Verifier - No issues
    • sfc - corrupt files detected that were unrepairable (CBS LogAttachment 297844)
    • dism - no corruption detected

    +1

If you having an issue installing a driver that worked before you formatted or wont install on a fresh build, sometimes this means hardware damage

Windows 11 Safe Mode PIN Failure

I've a new Asus ProArt Studiobook and need to put the laptop into SafeMode to fix Windows Defender issue (thread here if of interest). I'm running the latest version of Windows 11 (23H2). I was attempting to boot into safe mode. At the login screen, I receive the following error "Something happened and your PIN isn't available. Click to set up your PIN again."

    Troubleshooting steps so far

    1. I've repeated this with the laptop LAN connected, WiFi connected, Safe Mode and Safe Mode with Network. still unable to login to my laptop via safe mode.
    2. I've also reinstalled Windows 11 using this guide, following the Reinstall Windows 11 using installation media Keep Everything steps... I didn't fancy reinstalling all my apps. still unable to login to my laptop via safe mode.
Other than sending my laptop back under RMA or do a fresh rebuild, I'm out of options. Any ideas?
