Windows 10: Laptop Charging, but Lightning Indicator is Missing Windows 11

My laptop is charging, but the lightning bolt indicator no longer appears on the battery icon in the taskbar. It used to work fine before, but suddenly, it disappeared. The laptop still charges properly, but the icon doesn't reflect that it's plugged in.

My Windows 11 2024 HP Spectre 14 inch battery indicator always seems to be charging, even when the battery is full

Hi, I recently bought a new HP Spectre 14 inch running Windows 11 and have noticed that the battery icon in the taskbar always shows a little lightning icon, which I believe indicates that it is charging, although the laptop is always plugged in, the battery is fully charged and the laptop is not performing any strenuous task.

Based on past laptops and another Windows 11 laptop I have access to, my expectation is that when the laptop is fully charged and plugged, that icon should change to a battery and with a little plug icon in the corner. My concern is whether the current icon indicates some issue with the battery or that for some reason it is trickle charging, and one way or the other it might cause a problem with the battery health in future.

I have looked for solutions and followed some troubleshooting steps, particularly to delete the battery drivers and restart the computer, but it hasn't changed it.

Any advice would be very helpful and apologies if what I have described is actually normal.

Laptop no longer charging since Windows 10 update

Thanks for the response, but the issue is not the battery or the laptop. It was charging and working fine prior to this most recent Windows 10 update.

I'm sorry, I don't understand what you're trying to say. When the charger is plugged in, it just says "plugged in", but my battery has been at 2% for the past several hours. Obviously the charger is doing something since it's holding the 2% power, but it's not charging. There has to be some day to bypass whatever this update broke.

attached is a pic of the internal of the laptop there does NOT appear to be a CMOS battery what should my next steps be? - fully charge existing battery and see if i remove it and install back teh next day whether its still fully charged? - charge the battery for 18 hours to charge the internal CMOS battery? - suggestions please as Im not sure
