Yet more microphone/headset problems with Windows 11. Why does Windows periodically forget my Headphones have a microphone yet Macs and phones don't? Bluetooth Skullcandy Hesh ANC 2s. They work flawlessly with everything else but not Windows because after years, Microsoft still can'r design an operating system that actually works well enough.This is an impediment on my job too.I just removed the device and rediscovered and paired it. Imagine my surprise when it no longer recognises the mic at all now but chooses a different mic which I cannot swap. Please tell me how I fix this.

Headset Microphone Problem

I've recently came across some issues with my headset's microphone.
I'm using Windows 7 x64 Ultimate and Realtek HD Audio Manager.

The problems are the following:

- microphone recording volume is very low
- the max volume (in Realtek Manager) that I can set is about 60%, any higher and I sound like a robot
- it worked fine till a few days ago
- came across this issue before but it kinda went away on itself, sometimes the mic boost would activate and that would screw up my voice.

Any ideas?

Run the Microphone Setup Wizard

  Type “Set up Mic” in Cortana’s Search box.

  Follow the instructions provided to set up your microphone.
  

Check your microphone’s drivers

• 
  Type in “Device Manager” in the Search box and select it from the list.
  
• 
  Expand Sound, video and game controllers
  
• 
  Right-click (or tap and hold) your microphone device and select
  Update Driver Software.
  
• 
  Select Search automatically for updated driver software.
  This option will scan the Internet for the correct version of the driver or determine if you already have the most recent driver installed.
  You may be prompted to restart your computer to install the driver.
  

Manually turn up the mic gain

  Type in “Sound” in the Search box and select
