Unable to Print PDF files

We understand your concern as you are unable to print a PDF file. In order to get clarity and to assist you accordingly, please reply with the answers to the questions below:

• What is the Windows 10 version and Build installed? (Type
  winver in Windows search/Run command)
  
• What is the make and model of the printer & PC?
  
• Does this issue specific to a particular PDF file or all PDF file in the USB?
  
• What is the program that you are using to open the PDF file in order to print?
  
• Did you try printing any PDF file that is saved on the PC?
  
• What happens when you try to print, do you get any error message/code?

Printing Multiple .PDF files from Microsoft Windows 10 or 11

This is interesting. This came up for a customer wanting to print 30 .pdfs without opening each and every one. It stumped our analyst.

We all know it should be select all / right click /print but huh? Where did it go?

Error = This file cannot be printed. Please try opening the file with the correct application and printing from there.





A clumsy solution, but it has worked flawlessly.

So it would seem that Microsoft has removed the feature to print multiple .pdf files by selecting all , right click and print.

Below are instructions on how to make it work. These instructions may be too difficult for some end users.

Instructions

• Confirm that the customer has a Default Printer and is actually able to print to it.
  
• Open Windows Explorer
  
  • type shellrintersfolder enter This should bring up the list of printers installed on the computer.
    
• Open a 2nd Windows Explorer Window
  
  • type shell:sendto enter This should bring up the list of 'send to items'.
    
• Drag the Default Printer object to the sendto folder.
  
• visit Adobe - Download Adobe Acrobat Reader
  
  • Make sure it is from adobe! don't install !!hrome plug in. don't install !caffee stuff, only install Adobe reader.
    
• Navigate to the group of .PDF you wish to print as a group. Right click on one file and choose properties.
  
  • Change what program opens .PDF to Adobe Reader and hit apply.
    
• Navigate to the group of .PDF you wish to print as a group.
  
  • Select all up to 15 files. If it's more than 15 files you will need to do it in increments of 15 or less.
    
  • Right click on any of them and choose 'send to'
    
    • in the send to menu choose the default printer we moved over.
      
• This will open all the .pdfs in Adobe Reader AND add them to the printing Queue thus sending them to the printer. Just close Adobe when complete.

Print to PDF missing in Printer List

Hi William,

We suggest that you disable and re-enable the Print to PDF feature. Here are the steps:

• Click on the Start menu and type in Windows Features.
• Choose Turn Windows features on or off.
• On the next window, find Microsoft Print to PDF and disable it. Click
  OK to save changes.
• Restart your PC.
• Repeat the same steps to re-enable Microsoft Print to PDF.
